"Mom's Special Day" talks about an indeterminate future where birthdays have a much different meaning than they do today. "The Trial of WLQC-73" discusses what happens when we create computers that are as human as we are with all of our faults and failings. "The Heist" is a story about a future where Superheroes aren't as clean cut as our comic books show them to be. "Chance Encounters" describes what happens when a simple misunderstanding spirals out of control.

Aliens have seized the Earth's star cruisers, claiming they have committed war crimes against other worlds. Four senior women, life-long friends who refer to their group as the "Four-ever Club", watch the television reports as the aliens announce a very bizarre punishment for the people of the Earth. Two of the women are baffled by the punishment, while the other two are terrified and seem to know more than they are saying. As the horrific truth about the Earth's military is revealed, lies and betrayals within the group of women also emerge.

Giant trapdoor spiders have launched an assault against the human race and appear to be winning the war. Civilization crumbles, and all hope begins to fade. The only problem is, he may have to race against time to salvage this miracle before the spiders snag it in their deadly traps...
