The economies of Earth's nations were tanking. It was a world full of desperate people; the homeless and dispossessed were everywhere. It was a world ripe for human Separatists, whose survival depended on building a legion of human fighters, to go recruiting. The Separatists broke away from the rest of humanity centuries ago and developed their own technology, but now they must return to the home world in order to build an army.

Dante fought and died to give humanity a chance to escape from an overwhelming alien threat. They stole the sun and harvested the solar system for resources. He watched as the ship Humanity's Light fled into the dark beyond the solar system, his body hurtling away with the shock wave from Earth's destruction. Then he woke up in a new body, face-to-face with one of the Naga. He was given the worst news he had ever heard: Dante was expected to fight in an arena for the entertainment of the Naga. Now, he has to fight not just for his life, but his very soul.
