The myth tells that, while they churned the ocean, a jug of nectar, or Amrit, came out. This was the nectar of immortality, and the gods turned against it. The demons fought them off over the nectar. Which dropped at four places on the earth: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik. The Kumbh Mela is celebrated in “sacred” places
Astronomical and Astrological Significance: Maha Kumbh fair
According to Hindu astrology knowledge, every 12 years the universe’s goddess uses the planet Jupiter. The enactment of a solar eclipse generally signals the beginning of the Kumbh Mela. There is an alignment between the Sun, Moon, and the planet near L. This aligning “planetary” system indicates that the Kumbh Mela is auspicious from a spiritual viewpoint because people believe that taking a bath in the rivers of India during this period takes away all sins and brings them closer to God.
Spiritual Significance:
For most people. the primary path to awakening at the Kumbh Mela is to have their sins washed away by taking baths in the holy rivers. Hindu belief is that bathing during the Kumbh Mela washes away all sins and bestows salvation (moksha) upon them along with refreshing their spiritual connection with the divine power.
