Welcome to Episode 12 of Season 6 of the Woman Uncaged Podcast!

Freedom gets talked about like cruising down a long stretch of highway without a care in the world: no obligations, no attachments, no one asking anything of you. But when we slow down and feel into the truth, a lot of us do not actually feel free in isolation. We dig into what freedom really means for women, especially in midlife, and why the most “independent” version of freedom doesn't work for everybody.

We talk about the masculine model of freedom as separation and how that shows up in commitment fears and talk of boundaries. We explore how to be fully in relationship without giving up our voice and our independence. Along the way we reference Carol Gilligan’s work and reflect on the difference between what freedom looks like on paper and what freedom actually feels like in our bodies and in our lives.

We go there, starting with recent public disappointments and the broader pattern we keep seeing across the self-help industry, spiritual leadership, and influencer coaching culture.

We explore why the guru-mentee relationship can get dangerous fast: power dynamics, hierarchy, and that subtle pitch of transcendence and enlightenment. We unpack how formula marketing pulls us away from our own inner wisdom, why “live like me” is a massive red flag, and how ethical coaching looks different. For us, the work is slower, more relational, and more honest: we can guide, teach, and share experience without pretending to be perfect or demanding that anyone copy our life.

We explore choosing mentors who help us become more ourselves, and more uncaged!! Not more obedient.

In this week's episode we dig into how predator-prey language quietly naturalizes male violence, lowers expectations for men, and traps women in a life of constant vigilance.

We talk about what that framing does inside the body and inside relationships: the way it turns safety into a never-ending checklist, the way it invites victim blaming, and the way it steals time and energy that could go toward joy, leadership, and freedom. We also zoom out to the bigger picture of rape culture, institutional protection, and why consequences so often fail survivors, from college cases to courtrooms.

Welcome to episode 8, season 6 of the Woman Uncaged podcast where we are exploring triggers through a new lens: what if a trigger is a signal showing where you’re not free inside yourself yet? When we start treating triggers as teachers instead of life sentences, everything changes, from how we handle conflict to how we recover from shame, anger, and nervous system overwhelm.

We dig into why this happens and how it’s not a personal flaw. Patriarchal conditioning teaches women to center obligation and to treat what lights us up as optional. But it doesn't have to be that way!
