25 phone calls a day.
Sometimes 35.
And absolutely nothing important to say.
Welcome to an Italian family! 😂
This week, Valeria started wondering why we Italians call each other SO much.
Our mom calls to tell us tomatoes were on sale. Dad calls to ask what we're doing. Our children call to ask what they should wear. And we call each other to ask questions that could probably have waited until dinner.
And then, of course, there's the famous: "What did you eat?"
Because apparently, knowing what everyone had for lunch is essential family information. 😂
But as we started remembering our childhood, our grandparents, the old telephone in the hallway, and how technology has changed the way we communicate, we realized something.
We don't call because we always have something important to say. We call because we want to share our lives.
Even the boring parts. Especially the boring parts!
And perhaps that's why something as simple as asking "Did you get home safely?" or "What did you have for lunch?" can mean so much more than the actual question.
It's our way of saying "I'm thinking about you. I care about you. I love you."
So here's a little challenge for you this week: pick up the phone and call someone you love!
No special reason. No big news.
Just to say hello. ❤️
