What happens when God asks you to lay down what He once asked you to build?
In this episode of Impact Over Influence, Jamie sits down with Shelli to talk about what’s next for the ministry—and why sometimes the most obedient thing we can do is stop, listen, and allow God to lead us into something different.
For the past five years, God has used Impact Over Influence in ways we never could have manufactured. But Scripture reminds us that anointing cannot be borrowed, manufactured, or man-made. We don’t want to keep something moving simply because it worked before. We want to know: What is God saying now?
Looking at the temple, Paul’s testimony in Galatians, and the seasons of preparation God used throughout Scripture, we talk about the difference between absence and abandonment, calling and title, testimony and transformation, and being faithful to what God is doing now instead of clinging to what He did before.
Paul’s story reminds us that after encountering Jesus, he didn’t immediately step onto a platform. There were hidden years—years of preparation, surrender, and transformation. Sometimes God creates space not because He is finished with us, but because He is doing something in us before He does something through us.
This conversation gets personal as we ask some hard questions:
Are we talking too much to hear Him? Are our eyes open to see what God is doing? Are we willing to lay down a title, platform, ministry, or familiar season if He asks? Can we celebrate what God is doing through others while trusting Him with our own closed fist?
The Gospel is still the Good News. Jesus is still enough. And whatever comes next, our prayer is simple:
“Lord, let it throw us forward—and lead us back to You.”
