Wassup Beloved? – Ep. 2: “Ice Raids Juneteenth and Worship”

In this episode, we reflect on Juneteenth not just as a celebration—but as a prophetic sign. Pastor Wayne is joined by Yusef (event lead), Adelaide (worship leader), and Bis-kit (co-host) to talk about the meaning of freedom, faith, and the ongoing struggle against oppression.

We connect the dots between Juneteenth and the unjust treatment of immigrants today—ICE raids, family separations, and the spirit of exclusion that still haunts this land. Beloved Community Church stands with the oppressed because freedom for one is freedom for all.

This conversation is real, raw, and rooted in hope.

      Yo Wassup Beloved!?,

      This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday.

It’s a day rooted in Scripture—when the Spirit was poured out and the Church was birthed in power. And here at Beloved, the way we honor that moment is through something we call our Trinity Liturgy.

If you’ve been around, you’ve probably experienced a few of these—Good Friday, Ash Wednesday, and now Pentecost. These aren’t just services. They’re set-apart worship experiences—deeply artistic, deeply spiritual. They’re different from our regular Sundays, or midweek services, kind of like how the people of God in Scripture celebrated Holy days, feasts and festivals with special clothing, incense, and sacred gatherings. Our Trinity Liturgies are our way of doing that—offering beauty, depth, and creativity to help us encounter God in a fresh way.

This Sunday will be one of those days. So come ready.

      Open. Expectant. Hungry.

Speaking of these beautiful moments—we want to start telling the story of Beloved in a new way. So we’re launching a brand-new podcast called “What’s Up, Beloved?”

The first episode is called “Prophetic Art & Liturgy”, and it features a conversation with Pastors Kyle and John about how art and worship come together in our Trinity Liturgies. If you’ve ever wondered why we do things the way we do, or you just want to go deeper—this podcast is for you.

      Come ready this Sunday.

And check out the podcast—because what God is doing at Beloved is something worth celebrating and sharing.

Here are a few reflective questions for the podcast

      1. “How is art more than decoration—what makes it devotional?”
      2. “Where did you first encounter Jesus through creativity?”
      3. “Name a piece of art that confronts an idol in our city today.”
