Good morning. Washington. I'm Aaron Jolly. That steady drumming on the roof? Just the opening act. We've picked up about a tenth of an inch of rain overnight, but the atmosphere is getting restless. In the next 24 hours., A cold front is sweeping through, unlocking thunderstorm potential across Western Washington. Puget Sound sees showers and storms between 10 A.M. and 4 P.M. — that's when instability peaks. Highs reach 53 degrees. South Sound follows a similar script with storms most likely around midday, topping out at 54. Keep that umbrella handy and don't be surprised if you hear a rumble. Cross the Cascades and it's a different world. Eastern Washington gets steady rain this morning — near 100 percent chance around 10 A.M. — then drying by evening. Highs hit 49. But watch out for that early morning chill. It'll feel like 27 degrees around 7 A.M. The mountains are the real headline. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through Thursday morning for the Cascades. Snoqualmie. Stevens. And White Passes could see 7 to 9 inches of snow above 3,500 feet. Travel gets tricky this afternoon into tonight. Tonight, rain continues west of the crest with lows dipping to 42 in Puget Sound. Eastern Washington clears partly with a low near 33. Thursday brings another round of rain to the lowlands, while mountain snow showers linger. Highs hold in the upper 40s to low 50s. Looking ahead, this wet pattern sticks around. Rain chances continue Friday through the weekend. By Sunday night into Monday, colder air arrives — and we could see a rain-snow mix even at lower elevations. Tonight's full moon has some competition from the clouds. We're gaining over three minutes of daylight now — sunset just before 6 P.M. Spring equinox is just two weeks away. If you're driving the passes today, maybe pack the chains just in case. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
