Good morning. Virginia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Forty-nine degrees right now. Eighty degrees by this afternoon. That's not a typo. In the next 24 hours. Before we get to the heat, quick heads up for anyone driving north of Richmond this morning. Dense fog has visibility down to a quarter mile in spots. Low beams only. It clears by 9 A.M. Once that fog burns off, the warmup kicks in fast. Western Virginia leads the charge, topping out at 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Central Virginia sits right behind at 79. Down in Hampton Roads, the coast keeps things a touch cooler — 72 with a southwest breeze at 6 to 12 miles an hour. Here's the kicker. Normal highs for early March? Upper 50s. We're running 43 degrees above that. The spring equinox is still two weeks out, but today feels like mid-May showed up early. Tonight stays mild. Lows only drop to the mid-50s under partly cloudy skies. Step outside after dark and you'll catch the full moon lighting everything up. Friday keeps the warmth rolling. Western Virginia could hit 82. A slight chance of showers pops up in the afternoon, but most of us stay dry. For the weekend. Rain chances increase Saturday night into Sunday, with a few thunderstorms possible Sunday afternoon. Temperatures stay well above normal through early next week. Today's the day to crack a window or take that long lunch outside. We'll pay for it with some rain this weekend, but for now? For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
