  • Missing Veil Files | Case File 004: The Disappearance of Asha Degree
    Feb 28 2026

    Send a text

On February 14, 2000, nine-year-old Asha Degree left her home in Shelby, North Carolina during a storm in the early morning hours.

Multiple motorists reported seeing a small child walking alone along Highway 18 before dawn. When one driver turned around to check on her, she ran into nearby woods.

More than a year later, Asha’s backpack was discovered buried along the same highway — wrapped in plastic trash bags.

For decades, the case remained unresolved.

But in 2024 and 2025, newly executed search warrants and court documents revealed that investigators now believe Asha was killed and that her body was concealed. DNA evidence and properties connected to the Dedmon family in Cleveland County have brought renewed focus to the 24-year-old case.

No arrests have been made. No charges have been filed.

Asha Degree was nine years old.

This is Missing Veil Files — Case File 004.

If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina.

  • Episode 46 - The Survival of Alison Botha: Refusing to Be Erased
    Feb 24 2026

    Send a text

On December 18, 1994, Alison Botha parked in her driveway like she had done so many times before.

She had no idea what was waiting behind her.

Kidnapped. Brutally attacked. Left for dead on a deserted road outside Port Elizabeth, South Africa — her throat cut, her body nearly destroyed — Alison did the unthinkable.

    She survived.

In this episode, we examine one of the most extraordinary survival stories ever recorded. From the attack and investigation to the controversial parole of her attackers decades later, we explore not just the crime — but the resilience that followed.

This is not a story about how she died.

It’s a story about how she lived.

  • Ep. 45 - The Alien Abduction of Betty and Barney Hill
    Feb 21 2026

    Send a text

In September 1961, a married couple driving home through the White Mountains of New Hampshire reported something that would change UFO history forever.

Betty Hill and Barney Hill claimed they encountered a mysterious craft hovering above U.S. Route 3. What followed was two hours of missing time, vivid dreams, hypnosis sessions, and one of the most debated alien abduction accounts in American history.

Were the Hills victims of stress and suggestion?
    Did hypnosis shape false memories?
Or did something truly unexplainable happen that night in 1961?

In Episode 45, we break down:

    • The night of the sighting
    • The missing time
    • The hypnosis sessions with Dr. Benjamin Simon
    • The star map Betty later drew
    • The theories that still divide researchers today

This case became the blueprint for modern alien abduction lore.

    But the question remains…

If their minds filled in the missing time —
why did the details align so closely?

    And if they didn’t…

    what does that suggest?

  • Ep. 44 – The Murder of Betty Gore | The Affair, The Axe, and Forty-One Strikes
    Feb 16 2026

    Send a text

On June 13, 1980, in the quiet town of Wylie, Texas, a friendship ended in violence.

Betty Gore — a young mother of two — was found brutally killed in her own utility room. She had been struck forty-one times with an axe.

The woman who admitted to the killing wasn’t a stranger.

It was her close friend, Candy Montgomery.

What began as a secret affair between Candy and Betty’s husband unfolded into one of the most shocking self-defense trials in true crime history. Candy claimed Betty attacked first — and that a single word, “shhh,” triggered a dissociative break rooted in childhood trauma.

    A jury agreed.

In Episode 44 of Veil of Echoes, we examine the friendship, the betrayal, the confrontation inside that narrow utility room — and the verdict that still divides people decades later.

At what point does self-defense become something else?

    🎧 SHOW NOTES

  • Ep. 43 – The Casper Mountain Crawler: Watched in the Wyoming Woods
    Feb 16 2026

    Send a text

Casper Mountain sits just minutes outside of Casper, Wyoming — a place known for hiking trails, ski runs, and quiet forest overlooks.

    But after dark, something changes.

For years, hikers and campers have reported the same disturbing pattern:

    • A tall, pale figure watching from the trees
    • Footsteps that stop when they stop
    • A presence that mirrors their movement
    • And in some cases… a voice calling their name

In this episode of Veil of Echoes, we explore the legend of the Casper Mountain Crawler — a humanoid entity described as unnaturally thin, unnervingly silent, and disturbingly patient.

Is it wildlife misidentified in low light?
    Internet folklore shaping perception?
Or something far older that doesn’t want to be seen?

Because sometimes the most terrifying encounters aren’t violent.

    They’re observant.

    🎧 Listener discretion advised.

  • Ep. 41 — The Sallie House Haunting | One of America’s Most Violent Paranormal Cases
    Feb 6 2026

    Send a text

What if the ghost story everyone knows… is the least dangerous part?

In this episode of Veil of Echoes, we step inside the Sallie House in Atchison, Kansas — a small, unassuming home with a reputation for extreme and violent paranormal activity.

Often described as the haunting of a little girl named “Sallie,” the legend tells of a child who died during surgery at the hands of a desperate doctor. But as the story unfolds, the evidence begins to fracture that narrative.

In the early 1990s, Tony and Debra Pickman moved into the home with their newborn son — unaware of its past. What followed was not playful mischief, but a sustained and escalating psychological and physical assault. Scratches appearing in real time. Burns. Voices. Manipulation. A house that seemed to choose a target.

As psychics, investigators, and television crews entered the home, the activity only intensified — raising a disturbing question:

Was “Sallie” ever a child at all…
or was something else hiding behind her name?

This is not just a ghost story.
It’s a case of control, persuasion, and fear — and a reminder that some places don’t want to be understood.
