  • The 2025 UMASS REEU Experience

    Listen in to hear what the 2025 REEU cohort spent their summer doing. Projects this year included identification of organisms that break down glyphosate, understanding farmers concerns around mating disruption cost share programs, efficacy of garlic vs nasturtium extract as a pest deterrent and more. The team consisted of students from UMass, Mount Watchusett Community College and Greenfield High School.

    This year's program coordinator was John Galvan and he was supported by Caitlyn Alisauskas and Samina Mian both of whom were a part of the 2023 intern cohort.

  • The 2024 Experience

Projects this year included analysis of anaerobic digestate effects on plant growth, understanding barriers preventing farmers from participating in gleaning programs, efficacy of garlic extract as a fungicide and more. The team consisted of students from UMass and Greenfield Community College.

    This year's program coordinator, Izze Clark, was part of the 2023 intern cohort.

  • The 2023 Experience

    Listen in to hear what the 2023 REEU cohort spent their summer doing (besides having lots of laughs!). Projects this year included herbicide alternative weed management research, elementary and middle school agricultural education, pollinator and other beneficial insect research and more. The team consisted of students from UMass Holyoke Community College and Greenfield Community College.

  • The 2022 Experience
    Oct 31 2023

    In 2022, the UMass Extension Fruit Team and Stockbridge School of Agriculture launched its inaugural season of a five year internship experience. Each year, a new cohort of students will join Dr. Jaime Piñero and his team to teach students about opportunities in the world of agriculture from seed to classroom.
