In a world where duty clashes with desire, Donna Isabella is determined to resist her fathers choice of husband, Don Guzman. Meanwhile, Donna Violantes father has his own plans, envisioning her as a nun. When Isabella is unexpectedly attacked and taken in by Violante, a whirlwind of intrigue unfolds. With confidential letters, hidden identities, scheming servants, and clever disguises, this tale promises a delightful mix of drama and comedy. Rumor has it that Jane Austen even staged a family performance of this captivating play! This version is a condensed and rearranged adaptation from 1893, edited by Augustine Daly, based on the original 1714 work by Susannah Centlivre. - Summary by ToddHW
