Samantha drives to Oklahoma to interview Jesse Burton and his mother Shelia.  Samantha and Parra discover crucial evidence in a secret room in Fellowship Church. Tommy's past is finally revealed to Samantha. 

Samantha learns of her brother's drug problem when relapses. Davis finds Charlie Burton's brother Randy in Johnson City. Tommy opens up to Samantha about his relationship with Casey in high school.  Samantha makes a shocking discovery about Evelyn's twin sister,  Rachel. 

Samantha and her husband Will visit her father, Pastor Kevin McDonald, at his Houston Baptist megachurch.  Samantha receives a cryptic poem from Burton.  The discovery of human remains on a school playground renews interest in the Marble Falls cold case. Samantha confronts her brother Tommy about his relationship with Burton and his son. 

Samantha clashes with Marble Falls Sherrif's Detective Daniel Parra as she fights to reopen Casey's murder case.  An interview with Charlie Burton at the McAlester prison reconnects Samantha with her black sheep musician brother, Tommy. 

Samantha and Davis' investigation of Casey's high school boyfriend, Jesse, leads them to their first murder suspect, Jesse's father,  Charlie, who is imprisoned in the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.  Samantha connects Charlie, a convicted drug dealer,  to the notorious Truck Stop Killer, Robert Ben Rhoades. 

A small Texas town, Marble Falls, is changed forever in 1988 with the discovery of sixteen-year-old Casey Crowley's decomposed body near the quarry. Six months later, Casey's two best friends, Sophia and Rachel also disappear. Evelyn Bell begins her own investigation into her twin sister Rachel's disappearance. Crime reporter, Samantha Cooper, digs into the 20-year-old cold case with the help of her new intern, Davis Ross.
