À propos de ce contenu audio

This is a series of podcasts by law firms Holland Knight in the USA and TLT in the UK which looks at the impacts for businesses on both sides of the pond of any free trade agreement between the UK and Europe and the UK and the US. This series will also look at how the outcome of the November 2020 US Presidential election will affect these two separate trade negotiations and highlight for listeners any potential areas of risk or concern which they may need to think about. The series will co-hosted by Chip Cottrell from Holland and Knight and Patrick Somers from TLT. Chip and Patrick will be interviewing members of the International Trade law teams and Brexit working groups from each of Holland and Knight and TLT to get detailed insights on how these events will influence trade, politics and the economy on both sides of the pond.2020 TLT LLP Economie Politique et gouvernement Sciences politiques

    • The new Biden administration: What does the future look like for a UK/US trade deal?
      Jan 26 2021

President Joe Biden has now been inaugurated as the 46th President of The United States and has a lot on his mind. In our previous podcast we discussed how far down the order of priority a UK/US trade deal might be for the incoming administration. The conclusion we reached that there are at least five or six major issues to be fixed by the Biden Administration ahead of such a trade deal; including, the Global Pandemic, the US economy and rebuilding bridges with Europe and the rest of the world (all as discussed between the then President-Elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in their first interview with CNN following the results of the presidential election).

However, things may have changed following the announcement of the EU/China trade deal immediately after Brexit.

    • Is climate change an opportunity to come together?
      Nov 20 2020

In the latest episode of The Countdown to Brexit and Beyond, the popular Podcast series brought to you by Holland Knight in the USA and TLT in the UK, Chip Cottrell (H&K) and Patrick Somers (TLT) talked to Marc Gilston (TLT), Seth Stodder (H&K) and Matt Siembieda (H&K) about how climate change is likely to be at the top of the global political agenda in 2021.

We discussed how this topic could become a political tool used by both sides to promote the multilateral agenda voiced by President Elect Biden during the Presidential debates. We also considered whether this is the thing that will bring the Johnson Government and the Biden Administration together to grow ‘the special relationship’.
