In Episode 2 of The Write Vocation, the show explores journalling as a way to listen for the questions beneath your recurring subjects. A journal does not need to be beautiful, public, or productive. It can be a private place to notice what returns, hear your own thoughts without interruption, and follow a question before you know where it leads.

You’ll learn to distinguish a broad topic from a living question, and a living question from a promise you can make to a reader. AK introduces three useful clues—recurring questions, returning subjects, and lived tension—and shows how they can help you find direction without forcing yourself into a narrow niche too soon. The episode also includes a guided five-prompt journalling exercise and a seven-day question log you can use to gather evidence from your own attention.
