  • Jared Knott on Tiny Blunders & Big Disasters
    Mar 4 2026

Jared Knott is an international bestselling author, speaker, frequent podcast guest, and history aficionado. He has had numerous articles published in the Mensa Bulletin and in graduate school textbooks on subjects ranging from Supreme Court Reform to Arctic Exploration. He was a decorated combat infantry officer in Vietnam in the First Air Cavalry Division. In his civilian career, he has served as a vice president of sales & marketing and marketing director in the home improvement industry. His first book, Tiny Blunders/Big Disasters: Thirty-Nine Mistakes That Changed the World Forever is an international bestseller. A father of five, he lives in the Atlanta area with his wife, Kathryn.

We start the podcast speaking with Jared about the current Iranian conflict, and the recent State of the Union address.

We then move on to Jared's books:

The Impact of Tiny Mistakes on Major Events: Lessons from History

Small blunders have led to monumental outcomes in history.

In history, it's often the grand decisions and actions that capture our attention. However, what about the seemingly insignificant mistakes that have changed the course of events? In his books, Jared Knott delves into the fascinating world of tiny blunders that led to significant disasters and breakthroughs. Understanding these can provide valuable insights into decision-making today. Some of the Blunders in his books (which he addresses in this podcast) include the stupid mistakes that led to the Fall of Constantinople, and the sinking of The Bismarck. He then touches upon:

    The Power of Small Mistakes

Small mistakes can have disproportionately large consequences, a phenomenon evident in many historical events, where a minor error precipitated significant changes. A prime example is the case of Alexander Fleming, whose untidy laboratory practices led to the discovery of penicillin.

    The Butterfly Effect in Politics

Mistakes aren't just limited to science; they also play a crucial role in politics. The 2000 U.S. presidential election is an example of how a small design error on a ballot changed the course of history.

This example underscores how a single, seemingly minor design choice can have catastrophic consequences, highlighting the importance of clarity and precision in decision-making.

    Tiny Oversights

Small mistakes can lead to disastrous consequences, as seen in how an exposed piece of tape led to the Watergate scandal and its impact on the Presidency of Richard Nixon.

Jared also talks about how understanding the impact of tiny mistakes in history can inform our decision-making processes today.

    - Embrace Flexibility

    - Prioritize Clarity

    - Learn from History

Tiny mistakes can lead to monumental changes, as illustrated by historical events in science, politics, and warfare. Recognizing the power of these mistakes can help us navigate our own decision-making processes more effectively.

Right now we have to consider how the blunder of how Democrats acted during the SOTU may affect the midterm elections...

AJ Rice, Publicist extraordinaire, was slated to be our gust for this one, but something came up and he was on a plane when we recorded this episode. So we did another impromptu episode on a random topic, by tripping through the alphabet - for the fun of it.

At the end, Mike talks about a video he saw Dr. Jordan Peterson do on the three things that define Leftists...

Listen and laugh with us as we blunder our way through this latest unscripted journey through Language...

    Feb 11 2026

The podcast begins with a warm welcome me; then I introduce our scheduled guest, Taki Theodoracopulos, author of "The Last Alpha Male, the Amorous Pursuits of a Poor Little Greek Boy." Despite technical difficulties preventing Taki’s appearance, the hosts express excitement about his fascinating backstory, hinting at his privileged upbringing. The hosts draw parallels between Taki and the "world’s most interesting man" from a popular commercial, emphasizing the intrigue surrounding his life experiences and relationships.

As the conversation shifts, Michael shares a humorous personal story about dealing with water issues in his basement caused by a malfunctioning dryer. The exchange highlights the everyday challenges we all face.

The podcast then transitions into a serious discussion about the Epstein files and their implications in the political arena. We delve into the complexities of public perception, especially concerning high-profile figures like Donald Trump. The sheer volume of documents released—millions of pages—does not equate to guilt for those mentioned, we emphasize the need for careful analysis over sensationalism. This underscores the importance of understanding the context behind political narratives.

We then touch on positive news regarding salary increases outpacing inflation, a rare occurrence in today’s economy. There are positive implications of this for the middle class. We then draw attention to the resurgence of trade schools as viable paths for education and employment. This highlights a shift in societal values, suggesting that practical skills may offer more stability than traditional college degrees in the current landscape.

We then address the gender identity, particularly in relation to recent events involving trans individuals. Michael quotes Kevin Sorbo, emphasizing the necessity of addressing mental health in discussions about gender dysphoria. We advocate for a balanced approach to these discussions, advocating for healing rather than affirmation of dysphoria.

The episode encapsulates a variety of themes that resonate deeply in today’s world. From personal anecdotes to political and social commentary, we try to offer listeners a comprehensive view of contemporary issues.
