HEY SCUMMERS!

This week we're diving headfirst into one of the weirdest rabbit holes in Warhammer 40,000: The Sensei. The Emperor's immortal descendants, blessed with incredible gifts, hunted by the Inquisition, and quietly swept under the rug by the lore when everyone collectively decided, "Let's just not talk about that anymore."

The Sensei are fascinating because, unlike almost everyone else in the 41st Millennium, they might actually be good guys. Not "good" by Imperial standards, where the answer to every problem is orbital bombardment, but genuinely compassionate, selfless people who wander the galaxy toppling tyrants, helping the downtrodden, and generally being a massive inconvenience to dictators everywhere. Even if they do get too familiar with xenos.

They're freedom fighters in a universe that has almost completely forgotten what freedom even means.

Nathan spent a concerning amount of the episode watching Spamuel like he was about to get black-bagged by the Inquisition because I kept describing the Emperor as a bad dad. Look, if your immortal children spend their entire lives unknowingly fighting for justice while you spend ten thousand years glued to a chair, maybe Family Court has a point.

Naturally, we also tackle the questions Games Workshop have refused to answer for nearly forty years. Can you befriend a Tyranid Spore Mine? We believe yes. Scientists believe no. The Spore Mine believes in the power of positive thinking right up until the point it becomes an expanding cloud of bio-acid.

Then, in an attempt to prove not every parent in the galaxy is a complete disaster, we bring you the most inspirational dad moment in Warhammer history: a Necron Lord patiently teaching his favourite Scarab how to be friends with the flesh bags it's surrounded by. They grow up so fast. One day they're shyly nibbling at loose bolts, the next they're stripping a Baneblade before you've finished your command phase.

By the end of the episode we've defended ancient rogue-era lore, argued that the Sensei might secretly be some of the last genuine heroes in the setting, accused the Master of Mankind of being history's most absentee father, attempted diplomacy with a living bomb, and become emotionally invested in a robotic beetle receiving the parental encouragement it deserves.

Hey Scummers!

This week Spamuel and Nathan continue their tour through the Dramatis Personae of House Goliath, taking a look at four more walking mountains of muscle whose solution to virtually every problem is "hit it harder."

First up is Attilus the Axe, a legendary Goliath whose reputation was built one swing at a time. Equal parts executioner and demolition crew, Attilus proves that subtlety is a concept best left to the Van Saar. If there's an obstacle in front of him, chances are it won't be there for much longeronce they meet The God Cleaver.

Next comes Durgan Kill Fist, because apparently House Goliath has a strict naming convention that requires every champion to sound like they lost a fight with a thesaurus. Durgan is another monstrous bruiser whose preferred negotiating tactic is introducing his fist to whatever unfortunate soul happens to be standing nearby. Peace was never really on the table.

Then we meet Gorshiv Hammerfist, another champion whose name somehow manages to describe both his personality and his preferred method of conflict resolution. This monstrous Stimmer leads a crew of GOliath so brutal, even his brothers and sisters fear gaining their attention.

Finally, we examine Axon Hammer, proving once again that if you survive long enough in House Goliath, you either become a legend or a cautionary tale. Built like a cargo hauler and just as graceful, Axon rounds out an episode dedicated to the biggest slabs of vat-grown beef the Underhive has to offer. From atop his custom Ridgehauler, The Behemoth, Axon wages war on any unlucky enough to get caught on the roads of the wastes.

Of course, this wouldn't be an episode of The Underhive Lorekeepers without a few derails. Spamuel attempts to perform slam poetry, somehow butchering both poetry and slamming in the process. Nathan, meanwhile, spends the rest of the episode reminding everyone that he is, in fact, the funny one on the podcast—a claim that may or may not survive the edit. The lads discuss their ideal spending when winning the lottery and because it's impossible to discuss Goliaths without descending into gym humour, the episode becomes dangerously overloaded with bodybuilding double entendres. It's all completely innocent.

Probably.

So grab your protein shake, never skip gene-day, and remember, in House Goliath, friends don't let friends skip leg day.

Mostly because none of them can fit through the gym door anymore.

This week on the Underhive Lorekeepers Podcast, Spamuel forces Nathan to endure more than ninety minutes of something he never asked for, never wanted and will likely spend the rest of the year complaining about.

The Vespid.

That's right, we're talking about the Tau Empire's favourite winged allies, the Stingwings themselves. Hailing from the crystal-covered world of Vespid, these insectoid xenos have buzzed their way across battlefields for centuries, carrying neutron blasters, mysterious communication helms, and enough unanswered questions to make an Inquisitor nervous.

Join us as we dive into the origins of the Vespid, their hive-based society, their first contact with the Tau Empire, and the ongoing debate surrounding those suspicious Communion Helms.

Are the Vespid loyal allies fighting for the Greater Good, or are they simply the galaxy's most heavily armed bee colony?

Nathan certainly has some opinions, most of those opinions can be summarised as "burn them".

Several bee puns are made. None of them improve Nathan's mood.

The discussion only stings further when we explore how the Tau managed to recruit the Vespid into the Empire. Nathan remains unconvinced that giant alien insects wearing strange helmets isn't suspicious.

Will Spamuel convince him that the Vespid are actually cool?

Hive got some bad news for you.

The answer is no.

So grab your flamer, don your beekeeper suit, and bee prepared for an episode packed with obscure xenos lore, Tau shenanigans, questionable diplomacy, and one man's relentless descent into xenophobic grumbling.

Because if there's one thing this episode proves, it's that Nathan's hatred of xenos wasn't nearly strong enough before he learned about giant space bees.
