Hi a two week ago, I came live on Face book wishing you all a happy Pongal, happy Bihu and happy Makar Sankranti. It was the first time I was coming live on Facebook. There was a reason behind it. It was because I got involved in an accident which transformed my life. This happened somewhere in the between and August, September of 2022. That lovely accident, a blessing in disguise generated a passion for which I feel very grateful. That is the seed, which has set in motion many a activities which I am undertaking and going to be undertaking in the coming days and months and you all sure will be seeing it.
This accident happened when I had gone to NIT, for our world alumni meet. Among all the fun and celebrations, I had opportunity to interact with many students in the college. Also, there was my dear course mate Group Captain A Ravindran. We both have been batch mates, roommates and did mechanical engineering together. And then continued and were colleagues in the Indian Air force. And still continue to be good friends. If any of you know him, he is a person would can be called a Josh Machine, always full of energy and ideas that most people cannot match.
He had commanded Air NCC units, during his tenure in the IAF, and had got connected with the NCC unit in NIT. He was in touch with the NCC boys, girls and directing Faculty. As a part to have a connect with them he had formed a WhatsApp group where he had included me so that we could we could guide these youngsters and help them in this endeavor to join the forces.
While interacting with them many of them asked used to ask questions like what qualities does the Selection processes look for, how would one know if we have those qualities, do you know how do we could improve our personality etc. Since I had learned a personality evaluation processes I said I will help. So, to work with them I made a small Questioner in Google Form to fill and submit. Once submitted I could evaluate it and provide a feedback on their personality type and on their strong traits and qualities that they needed work on. I have left a link to that in the below in case you're interested, you too can also try it. Check out.
It's quite a simple time-tested evaluation system and when they used it, it did provide a good insight and they enjoyed it. One of the NCC boys who was impressed by this evaluation suggested to put it on the campus net so that others will be able to use it too.
It was fine with me and I never thought very many people would respond to it. I thought maybe something like 15 students would come up and do it. He took the permission from the faculty and posted it. I was over whelmed by the response and in about two days I got about got some 328 responses.
This is not what I expected. Because now I have to evaluate each of these responses which had come and put them through the evaluation processes so that I could typify them into some basic types of personalities, it also provided a picture of the True personality and the Outside Personality that is the image they showed the world. The problem was, it was a manual process.
Doing that was not hard but it was time consuming. During the analysis of the forms I learned a lot about what these kids had going on in their mind. Another thing I realized that these respondents were not only undergrads only also post grads and research students.
I shall now conclude this Part and come back to you in a weeks’ time. In the next Part II shall be telling you what these filled google sheets reviled and what hit me.
