You can put the weight down now. 🌿

Welcome to The Sustainable Business Hub.

Society tells us that if we aren't exhausted, we aren't working hard enough. I am here to tell you that it is a lie.

I’m Davelyn—a mom of four and founder of four businesses (from a coffee shop to a cleaning service). I know the overwhelming noise of a to-do list that never ends.

But I also know this: You cannot pour from an empty cup.

We built this space to reject "The Hustle." Instead, we build systems and prioritize sanity. We are here to help you build a business that lasts, not one that breaks you.

Your First Step: Comment below: What is your business, and what is the one thing currently weighing heaviest on your shoulders?

Your Second Step: If you are a Canadian Business Owner, join our local directory for Canadian Business for FREE - www.localjunction.ca

(US Business Directory is coming soon!)

Let’s carry it together.

Welcome home. 🍂

    • Is Your Side Hustle Actually a Hobby or a Business?
      Feb 21 2026

      Send a text

We are living in the age of the "side hustle," where nearly half of our friends and colleagues are building a little something on the side. But at what point does that passion project cross the line into a legitimate business in the eyes of the tax man?

In today’s episode, we dive deep into Internal Revenue Code Section 183, better known as the "Hobby Loss Rules". Understanding the difference is critical because it fundamentally changes how you are taxed. While a business can deduct "ordinary and necessary" expenses and potentially use losses to offset other income, a hobby is generally treated much differently—often leaving you to pay taxes on your revenue without the benefit of deducting your losses.

What we cover in this episode:

The "Safe Harbor" Test: Does your activity make a profit in 3 out of 5 consecutive years? If so, the IRS generally presumes you have a profit motive.

The 9 Factors of Profit Motive: We break down the IRS and CRA "profit tests," including the time and effort you expend, your level of expertise, and whether you maintain separate business bank accounts.

The "Ugly" Side of Hobby Rules: Why being classified as a hobby can lead to a surprise tax bill, even if you’re technically losing money out of pocket.

Signs It’s Time to Transition: From "making real money" to being ready for a lifestyle change, we discuss when to make it official with a business plan and legal entity like an LLC.

Don't let the "Hobby Loss Pit of Misery" claim your side hustle! Tune in to learn how to document your profit motive and treat your passion like the professional venture it is.

Your heart starts racing, you’re already picking out the color of your private jet, and you’re convinced you’re the next big thing. But here’s the reality check: that rush you’re feeling is actually a dopamine hit called the “Founder’s High”. It feels amazing, but it can also make you a little bit blind to the truth.

In this episode, we’re showing you how to take that excitement and turn it into evidence. We’re breaking down the 2026 validation roadmap to help you stop guessing and start knowing if people will actually pay for what you’re building.

Hair-on-Fire Problems: How to identify the pain points that make customers desperate for your solution.

The "Fake Door" Test: How to run a "Smoke Test" landing page for under $500 to see if strangers will actually click that "Buy" button.

The 15% Rule: The specific benchmark that tells you if your idea has "Product-Market Fit" or if it’s time to pivot.

Whether you’re a first-time founder or a seasoned pro, this episode is your survival guide to the "Million Dollar Trap." Stop being a "Fan" of your idea and start being a "Detective".

    • Why You’re Scared to Hire Your First Virtual Assistant (The 'Trust Trauma' Deep Dive)
      Feb 8 2026

      Send us a text

Are you working 14-hour days but still feel like your business is staying small? 😫 It’s time to stop telling yourself the most expensive lie in business: “It’s just faster if I do it myself.”

In this episode, we’re diving deep into Trust Trauma—that lingering fear from past hiring failures that keeps you holding onto your passwords like gold bars and rewriting every email your team drafts. We’re breaking down the Martyr’s Math to show you how doing $15/hr admin work is actually costing you $85/hr in lost CEO potential.

      In this episode, you’ll learn:

The Diagnosis: Why your brain’s survival instinct is trading growth for control.

The "Safe Playground" Method: How to use the "List of Shame" and Loom handoffs to delegate without the drama.

The 24-Hour Rule: The secret to becoming a teacher instead of a fixer.

Stop embezzling time from your future self. Remember: Perfection is poverty; progress is profit.
