Joel Macey is a life long Salt Laker who recently completed a Master degree in Gerontology at the University of Utah. Joel gives his insight into aging and how to do it gracefully with the help of a village model. Shurooq Al Jewari is an undergraduate student at the University of Utah who is studying Psychology. Shurooq is passionate about mental health and creating a culture where talking about mental health is less stigmatized and more accepted. Shurooq shares what it is like to be a part of Gen Z and how Gen Z has been approaching mental health. Shurooq advocates for our community to be better with mental health education and helping refugees adapt and integrate.

Walaa Hmeida is an undergraduate student at the Utah State University who is in the final year of her undergraduate degree in Psychology. Walaa is hoping to go onto become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the goal of helping kids. Walaa shares her family’s incredible journey of fleeing war in her home country of Syria, living in Turkey for 3 years, before being invited to come to the USA as a refugee. Walaa pushes us to go out of our way to make relationships with people who are different from us.
