He started working at Decca Records in 1943, he worked with such diverse at from R & B giant Fats Domino to teen idol Ricky Nelson to Country Star Slim Whitman. He become Chairman of the US Copyright Royalty Tribunal, appointed by President Ronald Reagan. He was Vice Chairman/ Operation Director of the NC Music hall of Fame. A wonder Video. A MIGHTY TREE has fallen! On January 29, 2026, Woody King, Jr became an ancestor. I miss my big brother and friend so much...all hail the king!

This tribute re release of my very first episode is a heart warming, enlightening and a very personal conversation with the King of Black Theater on Broadway, WOODIE KING JR! He founded and operated the New Federal Theater in New York City for 51 years until his retirement. The Theater is still going strong. I do thank this giant of a man to allow me to record him for my show. Guests include Broadway Tony nominated STARLETTE DUPOIS and "TV'S" Love Boat "Issac" TED LANGE. William "Bill" Easley, born in Olean, NY, is a saxophonist, flutist and clarinetist, has performed with some of the most iconic musicians, including George Benson, Isaac Hayes, Ruth Brown, Ron Carter, Grady Tate, Bobby Short, John Lewis, Winton Marsalis and Louis Bells, just to name a few! He has been part of the orchestra of 10 Broadway Shows, including Black and Blue, Sophisticated Ladies, The Wiz, Jelly Last Jam, Fosse.As side from being a sideman on many recording, he has 5 recording as a leader.He has performed in a host of club such as Minton's, Village Vanguard in New York, Plugged Nickel in Chicago, The Jazz Work Shop in Boston to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. He began performing with his father, a bandleader with his own band and his mother, who was a master pianist.
