The shotgun is lying on the trunk of a nearby parked car and according to her boyfriend, Rae Ann had implied she would kill herself if he did not reconcile their relationship and he said he heard the fatal gunshot shortly after she left his residence. • Charles Horvath pt. Two
    Jul 9 2026
May 26, 1989. Kelowna, British Columbia. While taking a lengthy backpacking trip through Canada, 20-year old British national Charles Horvath cashes a cheque at a bank, but soon vanishes without a trace. After not hearing from him for several months, Charles’ mother, Denise Allan, travels to Kelowna to perform a search and learns that Charles was staying at a local campground until he abruptly disappeared and left his personal belongings behind. Over the years, there are a number of leads, including an anonymous note which states that Charles was killed at a party before his body was dumped in a lake, but no evidence is found to indicate what happened to him. Did Charles Horvath become a victim of foul play? If not, what actually caused his disappearance? On this week’s episode of “The Path Went Chilly”, we cover an unsolved missing persons case involving a victim who vanished while travelling through our podcast’s home country of Canada. If you have any information about this case, please contact the Kelowna detachment of the RCMP at (250) 762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).Support the show:Patreon.com/julesandashleyPatreon.com/thetrailwentcoldAdditional Reading:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Charles_Horvath-Allanhttps://unsolved.com/gallery/charles-horvath/https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Charles_Horvathhttps://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/mother-spends-40000-pounds-trying-to-trace-son-1556520.htmlhttps://globalnews.ca/news/71198/search-for-missing-son-brings-mother-back-to-kelowna/http://globalnews.ca/news/1169821/still-no-sign-of-charles-horvath-25-years-later/http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/charles-horvath-allan-s-mother-makes-last-effort-in-search-of-answers-for-missing-son-1.3076705https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/u-k-mom-has-new-hope-of-finding-out-what-happened-to-her-son-30-years-after-he-disappeared-in-b-c-1.5705896https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/we-re-still-searching-for-answers-mother-determined-to-solve-30-year-old-case-of-missing-son-1.4846262https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/the-30-year-search-for-the-u-k-s-most-famous-missing-sonhttps://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/incredible-choir-bound-together-heartache-7919460https://www.kamloopsbcnow.com/watercooler/news/news/Kelowna/GoFundMe_started_in_last_ditch_effort_to_find_Charles_Horvath_who_disappeared_without_a_trace_in_Kelowna_34_years_ago/https://www.newspapers.com/image/504855528/https://www.newspapers.com/image/494974095/https://crimeblogger1983.blogspot.com/2019/04/murdered-in-canada-karoly-charles-john.html

  • Vernon Shipman, Charles Glass, Louise Davis Shumate Pt. Two
    Jun 25 2026
July 17, 1966. Hendersonville, North Carolina. A pair of close friends, 43-year old Vernon Shipman and 36-year old Charles Glass, both go missing and Vernon’s abandoned car is soon found on a dirt road near his residence. Five days later, Vernon and Charles’ bodies are discovered in an isolated area alongside the body of a 61-year old Asheville resident named Louise Davis Shumate and all three victims have been bludgeoned to death. Even though Louise does not appear to have any known connection to Vernon or Charles, multiple witnesses report having seen all three of them inside Vernon’s car with an unidentified man prior to their deaths. Decades later, some investigators express their belief that a deceased criminal named Edward Thompson committed the murders, but there is no conclusive evidence to implicate him. Since Vernon and Charles were both gay men, could the murders have been a hate crime? If not, what was the actual motive and how did Louise become mixed up in the whole situation? On this week’s episode of “The Path Went Chilly”, we explore one of the most bizarre unsolved triple homicides you’ll ever hear about. If you have any information about this case, please contact the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office at (828) 697-4596.

  • Tommy Gibson Pt. Two
    Jun 11 2026
March 18, 1991. Azalea, Oregon. Two-year old Tommy Gibson goes missing from the front yard of his rural home. Tommy’s father, Larry Gibson, who happens to be a deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, claims that his son vanished while he was out jogging and later tells the authorities that his daughter witnessed Tommy get abducted by an unidentified couple driving a pick-up truck. However, investigators notice a number of suspicious discrepancies which make them believe that Larry caused Tommy’s death and covered up what he did by disposing of his son’s body. Larry is eventually charged with the crime and convicted of second-degree manslaughter and serves nearly three years in prison, but he continually maintains his innocence and no trace of Tommy is ever found. Was Larry Gibson actually responsible for the disappearance of his son? Or was the boy the victim of a stranger abduction? On this week’s episode of “The Path Went Chilly ”, we explore a very frustrating missing children’s case which still has a number of unanswered questions.
