Today I have the pleasure of specking with Celeste Hodge Growden, CEO and President of the Alaska Black Caucus and Ouida Morrison, the Economics Chair. February is Black History Month and we kick things off with the incredible historian, archivist and community leader, Ed Wesley who offers us an astonishing history lesson in the role of African Americans in the building of the ALCAN Highway, the AK Railroad and the arrival of the Buffalo Soliders to our nation's farthest regions in their dedication to their country. Theresa has been gardening in Alaska for 20 years. She previously worked for Bioneers of Alaska where she was first introduced to the concept of permaculture. Went on to get certified in permaculture and helped start the Anchorage Permaculture Guild and Anchor Gardens. She’s also the Organic Gardening Coordinator for Yardacopia a program of Alaska Community Action on Toxics.

At a time when most of us are done with politics, including myself, Tom Begich brings a refreshing and much needed reimagined way of empowering all of us in his vision for Alaska. His consciousness is mature, inclusive and truly the new way! I highly recommend a good listen to this conversation. It's a game changer.

The 37th Annual Folk Festival happens every January just when we need it! Veteran musician, Marianne See has been with the Anchorage Folk Festival from the beginning and brings her rich history of those early days through now in this fabulous discussion. Lucy Peckham has been the festival's sound engineer for thirty years and talks about the workshops for kids that are nestled in the festival making sure the next generations are tuned in!

Bob and I have an intensely lively and passionate discussion about something we both care deeply about; the importance of preserving this particular kind of cultural and societal history because of it's unique capturing of the human spirit and evolution. So good!

Bob Curtis-Johnson has a rich career path having worked for the Discovery Channel and PBS. Here in Anchorage Bob's known for his work with AMIPA, his immense list of film projects and now his own company, Summit Day Media.

We are not going into a new year. We're going into "The In-Between." 2025 was the year of the snake and we shed everything! But what we're becoming is still ahead of us. We have another phase of transformation to go through first. The chrysalis.

We know the caterpillar and we love the butterfly but we don't like the messy, scary, dark chrysalis. Yes, like the womb, it holds life. In the new design model, we see it as sacred and filled with meaning and information.
