Imagine a place for parents and their children, where everyone is welcome. A safe place for kids to explore, play and create while parents meet other parents and everyone feels like the space is theirs. This is exactly what The Workshop Community Center is all about and it's ED, LeeAnna Chronister has had a life filled with just the right experience to make this vision a reality.

The Anchorage School District, like so many others, is struggling to keep up with the speed of technology and it's impact on the system. Rhiana Gay has been in the district for fourteen years, twelve as a teacher and now two years as a counselor. We take a fabulous deep dive into why the system is failing, what her vision is for the new design model and how the parents become involved in new ways that benefit everyone. So good!

We begin our celebration and acknowledgment of Women's History Month with the CEO of YWCA Alaska, Jessie Lavoie. The YWCA history is fascinating as is its evolution. The funding cuts from this administration has left our non-profits scrambling. Today we learn how that's affecting this important organization that has been supporting women in Alaska for 37 years and why we need them more than ever.

February is Black History Month and we kick things off with the incredible historian, archivist and community leader, Ed Wesley who offers us an astonishing history lesson in the role of African Americans in the building of the ALCAN Highway, the AK Railroad and the arrival of the Buffalo Soliders to our nation's farthest regions in their dedication to their country. Theresa has been gardening in Alaska for 20 years. She previously worked for Bioneers of Alaska where she was first introduced to the concept of permaculture. Went on to get certified in permaculture and helped start the Anchorage Permaculture Guild and Anchor Gardens. She’s also the Organic Gardening Coordinator for Yardacopia a program of Alaska Community Action on Toxics.
