We are not going into a new year. We're going into "The In-Between." 2025 was the year of the snake and we shed everything! But what we're becoming is still ahead of us. We have another phase of transformation to go through first. The chrysalis.

We know the caterpillar and we love the butterfly but we don't like the messy, scary, dark chrysalis. Yes, like the womb, it holds life. In the new design model, we see it as sacred and filled with meaning and information.

My friend, Jeff Young went into a rapid and shocking descent off the mountain of life and in just seventeen days left his body. The experience brought me face to face with the dying process and death itself. It was shocking and devastating to my best friend, whose husband was a well known runner in Anchorage. Yet our shared spiritual consciousness gave us a chance to step into the new design for preparing for someone's death as well as the sacred ceremonies that await us when we make room for them. There's much more to the Food Bank of Alaska than feeding Alaskans. They also feed a network of organizations that also feed Alaskans. But food security is different than our food system. Rachael Miller, who has been studying food systems for 20 years, brings her incredible insight and knowledge about how food moves from the land to our hand and the political forces that delay and even deny food security for all Americans.
