  • Is the Veil Really Thinner at Halloween? Spirit, Memory & Connection
    Oct 30 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Every Halloween, someone says it: “The veil is thin.”

But what if the veil is not a wall between you and the people you love who have passed?

What if it is simply the part of you that gets quieter when the nights draw in—when you light a candle, look at an old photograph, hear their song, or let yourself remember them properly?

In this tender Halloween episode of Mystic In Training, Melissa Amos shares the shift that changed the way she understands spirit communication. From her early scepticism, through Reiki and mediumship, to the deeply personal experience of continuing to feel connected to those she has lost—Melissa explores the possibility that connection is not something we force. It is something we learn to receive.

She shares a simple practice for anyone who wants to make space for a loved one: no dramatic ritual, no need to be “gifted”, no pressure to hear or see anything. Just memory. Love. A candle. An object that mattered. And the willingness to ask: what if you are still here, in some way?

    In this episode:
    • Why “the veil is thin” might be about our attention, not a spiritual curtain
    • The real story of how Melissa came to trust spirit communication
    • Why your loved one does not need you to get it perfect
    • What altars, photographs and small rituals are really for
    • A gentler way to begin a conversation with someone you miss
    • Why you do not have to wait for Halloween to feel connected

For anyone carrying love that did not end when a life did.

  • Why Success Feels Unsafe: Stop Playing Small and Grow Without Losing Yourself
    Oct 23 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Why does the life you want sometimes feel harder to move towards than the life you have outgrown?

In this episode of Mystic in Training, Melissa Amos explores the fear of success that can hide underneath playing small. When your grandest vision asks you to become someone new, it can bring up imposter syndrome, procrastination, overwhelm and the fear of leaving familiar versions of yourself behind.

This is a conversation about the gap between where you are now and who you are becoming — and why you do not need to feel fully ready before you begin.

    In this episode, Melissa explores:

    • why a bigger vision can trigger freeze, flight and procrastination
    • the difference between having a vision and becoming congruent with it
    • the fear of outgrowing old roles, relationships and identities
    • why belonging can make growth feel unsafe
    • how confidence, clarity and self-acceptance are built through action

If you are ready to stop shrinking around your potential, this episode is an invitation to let yourself be seen as who you are becoming.

  • Your Calling Needs a Business Strategy: Sustainable Impact, Money & Spiritual Service
    Oct 16 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Can you make a real difference in the world *and* create a business that sustains you?

In this episode of *Mystic In Training*, Melissa Amos explores the uncomfortable but essential relationship between spiritual service, money, impact, and long-term sustainability. Using the recent hibernation of Charlotte Church’s retreat centre, The Dreaming, as a starting point, she unpacks why good intentions alone are not a business strategy — and why being financially resourced can allow your calling to reach more people, for longer.

This conversation is for you if you have ever felt torn between charging properly and being accessible; worried that wanting money makes you less spiritual; or felt that your work has to cost you in order to count.

In this episode, you’ll hear about:

    - Why sustainable businesses can create a deeper, longer-lasting impact

    - The hidden agreements that can keep spiritually led people undercharging

    - Why generosity and accessibility need structure behind them

    - How strategy can express your values rather than dilute them

    - A more useful question than “How can I make this available to everyone?”

    - How being resourced helps you make decisions from truth instead of survival

Your calling deserves more than a beautiful beginning. It deserves the foundations to endure.

  • The Spiritual Art of Creating a Home | Intention, Energy & New Beginnings
    Oct 9 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

What if creating a home wasn't simply about where you put your furniture, what colours you chose or how beautifully you decorated it?

What if it was about consciously creating the environment that supports the person you're becoming?

I've recently moved house for the first time in almost half my life. And while moving is often described as one of life's most stressful experiences, I've discovered something rather unexpected.

It's also an extraordinary opportunity for conscious creation.

A few mornings before leaving my old home, I found myself lying in bed, suddenly noticing things that had been part of my everyday life for years.

    The birdsong outside my window.

The familiar sounds of the morning.

    The quality of the light.

Even the feeling of the air.

Things that had become so familiar they barely registered in my conscious awareness.

And I realised that almost everything about my daily routine was about to change.

From where I reached for my coffee mug to the way I moved through the rooms, so much of my life had become automatic.

These small actions were part of the unconscious architecture of my day.

Moving house meant I had an opportunity to create that architecture again.

    But this time, intentionally.

What does your soul need from your space?

Rather than immediately deciding where everything should go, I began asking different questions.

How do I want to feel in this room?

What does my soul need from this space right now?

What is this environment inviting me into?

    Sometimes the answers surprised me.

It wasn't necessarily about buying something new or creating a perfectly styled room.

Sometimes it was moving a plant, changing the lighting or placing something meaningful where I would see it each morning.

Other times it was about creating a completely new ritual.

I've discovered the pleasure of taking an extra ten minutes to make coffee, choosing a special mug and sitting in the morning sunshine.

Something that used to be an automatic part of my routine has become an opportunity to be present.

    And I've noticed something interesting.

Although I'm having to think consciously about so many things that were previously automatic, the process hasn't felt as stressful as I expected.

    It's felt creative.

    Purposeful.

    Almost ceremonial.

Being in relationship with your home

On the day I received my keys, before any furniture arrived, I sat in the empty house.

I spent time with the space.

I spoke to it about my intentions, what I hoped to experience here and what I wanted to bring into it.

I placed a few crystals that felt right.

And I began building a relationship with my new surroundings.

For me, a home isn't simply somewhere we occupy.

It's an environment we are constantly interacting with.

It influences how we feel, how we move, how we rest and how we experience ourselves.

And we influence it in return.

    An invitation to create consciously

You don't need to move house to experience this.

Perhaps there's a room, a corner or even a small space in your existing home that you could approach differently.

Rather than immediately rearranging things, sit there for a moment.

    Notice how you feel.

Consider what the space is currently supporting in your life.

And ask yourself what it might be inviting you into.

In this episode of Mystic in Training, I explore the relationship between our physical environment, our unconscious habits, our energy and our spiritual evolution.

Because sometimes a new beginning doesn't require a new home.

Sometimes it begins with a new relationship with the space you're already in.

Listen to this week's episode and discover what happens when you begin creating your surroundings with intention.

  • Your Business Isn’t Here to Keep You Safe
    Oct 2 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

    “Just trust your intuition.”

    It sounds like good advice.

And over two days at PEAKEFEST, surrounded by hundreds of business owners learning about strategy, sales, marketing, messaging and growth, I heard versions of it again and again.

    Be yourself.
    Follow what feels good.
    Trust your gut.
    Listen to your intuition.
    But there’s a problem.

What if you don’t actually know which part of you you’re listening to?

Because your intuition isn’t the only voice inside you.

    Fear has a voice.
    Your past has a voice.
The part of you that wants to belong has a voice.
The part that wants to protect you from rejection, failure or embarrassment has one too.
And sometimes the thing your Soul is asking you to do feels anything but comfortable.

In this episode of Mystic in Training, recorded just after bringing Soul Space to PEAKEFEST 26, I explore what it really means to put Soul into the strategy.

We talk about the difference between what is familiar and what is aligned, why fear doesn't necessarily mean “no”, and why the nature of the Soul may be less about keeping you comfortable and much more about your evolution.

Because perhaps the question isn't simply:

    “What does my intuition say?”

    Perhaps it's:
“Which part of me is speaking — and what is it orientated towards?”

    Safety?
    Belonging?
    Money?
    Approval?
    Or Soul?

This is Spiritual Intelligence in practice.

Not ignoring psychology in favour of spirituality. Not handing every decision over to your mentor, an algorithm, AI or the latest expert you've heard speak.

But developing the capacity to come back to yourself, discern what is true, and put yourself back in the driving seat of your own life.

Because your business isn't only here to make you money.

And it certainly isn't here to keep you safe.

It might just be one of the greatest vehicles you have for becoming more of who you are.

    In this episode:

    – Why “trust your intuition” can be incomplete advice
    – The difference between Soul guidance, fear and protection
    – Why aligned decisions can still feel uncomfortable
    – What hundreds of business decisions teach us about discernment
    – The relationship between familiarity, safety and growth
    – What it means to put Soul at the centre without becoming “Soul only”
    – Why Spiritual Intelligence matters in business, relationships and life
    – What I witnessed when Soul Space went on tour to PEAKEFEST

  • Intuition vs Fear: How to Know What Your Soul Is Really Telling You | Mystic in Training
    Sep 26 2026
Send us Fan MailHow do you know when it’s your intuition speaking? And perhaps more importantly… how do you know when it isn’t?We’re often told to trust our intuition. Follow the nudge. Listen to our guides. Notice the signs. Pay attention to our energy. But the more spiritually sensitive we become, the more information we can potentially be receiving. Our intuition. Our fear. Our conditioning. Our ego.Our nervous system.Other people’s emotions and energy. Our guides. Our desires. And somewhere amongst all of that… the quieter voice of the Soul.So how do we tell the difference? In this episode of Mystic in Training, I’m exploring intuition, energetic sensitivity, spiritual guidance and the discernment required to actually know what we’re listening to.This episode has been created from a longer conversation I had with Gordon Mackay, founder of The Empath Academy and Empaths Are United, where we originally began by talking about what it means to be an empath. But the conversation quickly became about something much bigger.Being sensitive isn't the same as being discerningThere can be a tendency within spirituality to treat sensitivity as the goal.To feel more.Receive more.Open more.See more signs.Hear our intuition more clearly. But I don’t necessarily think receiving more information makes us more spiritually intelligent.Because then comes the question:What are you going to do with it?You can feel somebody else’s emotion without needing to carry it.You can receive guidance without automatically obeying it.You can experience fear without assuming it means “don't go there.”And you can feel deeply intuitive about something while still becoming curious about what, exactly, is creating that feeling. That distinction matters.Intuition doesn't always lead towards comfortOne of the things I come back to again and again is that my Soul has not always led me towards what feels easiest.Sometimes the most aligned path has frightened me.Sometimes growth has required me to walk towards something that another part of me would much rather avoid. So if our definition of intuition becomes:the thing that feels good, expansive or safe…we can get ourselves into trouble.Fear isn't necessarily a stop sign.Discomfort isn't necessarily misalignment. And ease isn't necessarily confirmation. This is where discernment becomes part of spiritual practice. What belongs to you?For empaths and highly sensitive people, there's another layer.Sometimes what we're experiencing may not even originate with us.We can walk into a room and feel the atmosphere.Spend time with somebody and notice our emotional state change.Sense tension before anybody has said a word. That sensitivity can be an extraordinary form of information. But sensitivity without self-awareness can also become overwhelm. The work isn't necessarily to shut it all out. It's developing enough relationship with yourself that you begin to recognise:This is mine. This isn't mine. This is information. This is something I need to act upon. Those are very different things.Spiritual guidance shouldn't remove your agencyThe same is true of guides, signs and synchronicities.I love spiritual guidance.I work with it.I teach it.I have built an enormous part of my life around developing a relationship with the unseen. And I don't believe its purpose is to make us less capable of making our own decisions.Quite the opposite. For me, spiritual development is not about continually asking something outside of yourself what you should do next.It is about becoming more deeply able to meet life.To receive information from many places — psychological, emotional, energetic, intuitive and spiritual — and develop the capacity to be in relationship with all of it.Without abandoning yourself in the process. That is where intuition becomes something much richer than simply “trust your gut.”It becomes Spiritual Intelligence. And perhaps that is part of what it means to be a Mystic in Training. Not somebody who has all the answers. But somebody who is learning how to listen.Want to go deeper? This conversation sits right at the heart of the work we are exploring inside AWAKEN — developing your relationship with your intuition, your Soul and your Spiritual Intelligence so that spirituality becomes something you can actually live, rather than simply something you know about.https://melissa-amos.com/awakenAnd if you’d like to hear the conversation this episode came from, you can watch my full interview with Gordon Mackay here:https://youtu.be/wP15_hoNd9o?is=rtKlceWnbIcCjz8XGordon is an empath mentor and the creator of The Empath Academy and Empaths Are United. • Can We Ever Be Free? Trauma, Self-Expression and the Stories That Shape Us
    Sep 18 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Can we ever be truly free?

I have been sitting with that question since hearing Dr Gabor Maté speak in London. He spoke about childhood, attachment, the body and the experiences that shape us: what we were praised for, what was allowed and which parts of us seemed to threaten our belonging.

It left me wondering how much of the life we are living today is genuinely being chosen by us—and how much is being chosen through a lens we learned to wear long ago.

As babies, our needs and responses are immediate. We reach, cry, turn away and make ourselves known. But somewhere along the way, many of us learn that self-expression has consequences. Do not be too difficult. Do not ask for too much. Do not become angry. Be good, amenable and easygoing. Preserve the relationship. Keep the peace.

For a child who depends upon attachment, this adaptation makes complete sense. Belonging is not a luxury; it is survival. Yet the strategy can follow us into adulthood, long after the original conditions have changed. We call it our personality. We say we genuinely do not mind. We rise above anger, soften the boundary and swallow the no—while resentment, tension or exhaustion gathers inside us.

Then one day, self-expression begins to matter more.

We set a boundary. We name what is true. We stop volunteering for the role everyone expects us to play. And because our nervous system remembers that authenticity once risked rejection, even a healthy act of self-loyalty can feel dangerous.

This is the painful choice beneath so many apparently ordinary moments: do I risk disappointing someone else, or do I continue abandoning myself?

Freedom may not mean becoming free of everything that happened to us. We may always have a history, conditioning and a body that remembers. Perhaps freedom begins in the moment we recognise: this happened; this is what I made it mean; this is who I learned to become because of it. Then a new question becomes possible: do I still need to be that person now?

That awareness is not an instruction to blame our younger selves. The adaptation protected something precious. Nor is it a demand to express every feeling at another person. Self-expression can begin privately—with the courage to admit what is actually here. What is true for me today? What wants to come through me? If I did care, what would I choose?

One of the most beautiful parts of the evening came during a question about supporting children through painful circumstances. The response Melissa heard contained three simple invitations: care for yourself, allow their full expression and delight in them.

What if those are also instructions for our own healing?

Can I care for myself and tend to my emotional state? Can I allow the anger, grief, desire, joy, guilt, ambition and mysticism to exist without immediately correcting them? And can I enjoy myself—not merely treat myself as an endless healing project, but become available for my vitality and aliveness?

Perhaps healing is not becoming better at holding pain. Perhaps it is becoming more available for truth, authenticity and life.

This is spiritual intelligence: not collecting more knowledge about why we are the way we are, but developing the capacity to meet our mind, body, emotions, Soul and history consciously enough that we can participate in what happens next.

What happened to you matters. The meaning you made was intelligent. The person you became helped you belong or survive. But what are you doing with your story now?

  • What If You’re Not Lost? Your Life as an Odyssey
    Sep 11 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

What if the chapter that feels like a detour is not evidence that you have gone wrong?

What if it is part of what is preparing you to arrive?

A couple of weeks ago, I went to see The Odyssey with a friend. Three hours later, I left the theatre with the feeling that I had witnessed far more than an ancient adventure story. So I went back. The second time, I took a notebook.

Odysseus begins with a destination: Ithaca. He knows where he wants to go, but the journey home refuses to become a straight line. There are storms and monsters, temptation and loss, magical helpers and moments when the way forward disappears completely. Again and again, he has to meet the chapter he is actually in—not the one he thought he should be living.

That is where the myth began to feel like a mirror.

It is easy to believe we are supported when life is flowing. The signs appear, the right people arrive and the ship seems to be travelling directly towards the destination we chose. But what happens to our faith when the feathers stop—or when we are too frightened, tired or disappointed to notice them? What happens when the map disappears and we cannot understand why life is asking so much of us?

We can begin to treat divine guidance like a guarantee: if I am aligned, things will work out in the way I want. If I am supported, the path will be smooth. If something goes wrong, perhaps I have missed the sign, made the wrong choice or somehow fallen off my soul path.

But support does not always look like ease. A sign may be an invitation to pay attention, not a promise of a preferred outcome. The difficult chapter may be developing the strength, wit, resilience or discernment we will need later. The detour may introduce a helper, reveal a truth or return us to a part of ourselves we had left behind.

This does not mean every painful experience was deliberately sent, or that harm should be spiritualised and endured. Some chapters ask us to leave, seek help, set a boundary or name clearly what has happened. Finding meaning is not the same as justifying suffering. Spiritual intelligence asks us to stay awake to that distinction.

Nor is faith the same as passive waiting. Odysseus receives help, but he still has to build the raft. He has to listen, choose, act and sometimes begin again. Perhaps our work is similar: to remain open to guidance without handing over our agency; to notice what life is showing us while still taking the next honest step.

So perhaps the question is not simply, “How do I get home?” Perhaps it is, “Where am I in the Odyssey?”

Am I in the storm, being asked to hold my centre? Am I with the sirens, learning what can pull me away from my true north? Am I on the island, mistaking comfort for belonging? Or am I building the raft—working with the materials available instead of waiting for perfect conditions?

We do not return home unchanged. The person who arrives could not have existed without the journey, and the home we return to may have changed too.

What might you do differently if you knew you were not lost, but navigating a necessary detour? And what might this part of your spiritual journey be asking you to become?

Listen to this episode of Mystic in Training for a reflection on the hero’s journey, faith, divine guidance, discernment and the conscious choices that help us find our way.
