A podcast of weekly recorded sermons from Bald Mountain Baptist Church. We are located in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, and we hope to utilize this platform to play some small role in carrying the gospel from our neck of the woods to the ears of those beyond our community and to the ends of the earth!

    Hebrews 11:1-16

Pastor Cory delivered a powerful message this morning on faith from the book of Hebrews. You may have hear the "Hall of Faith" preached on before, but Cory brings this message right to us as the church of God. Faith is essential in the Christian walk, and it is what sets apart from an unbelieving world. The writer of Hebrews describes faith as almost something that is tangible, that we may grasp ahold of when the world is falling to pieces. As the church, our faith is not only a feeling, it is a substance that spurs us on to labor for the kingdom of God and not to give up the fight when things get tough.

Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. For January and beyond, we will be focusing on the Vision of the church, praying that God will help us to reach the Shumont community and to grow as a church. Pastor Cory is also making his way through the book of Ephesians in his messages, but is taking a break from that as well during this season. We at Bald Mountain Baptist Church are so glad you have joined us here, and our prayer is that you are blessed by this message!

The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our prayer is that through this platform we might do our part in reaching the ends of the earth with the gospel!

Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

    Isaiah 42:10-11

  • The Vision of Christ to the Church

    Revelation 1:1-20

Pastor Troy is back in our series on Vision as we traverse God's calling to grow our church. He says the plan is to look at each of the seven churches in chapters 2 and 3 of the book of Revelation. However, chapter 1 serves us as the introduction to this series, giving us the picture of our Lord who has come to deliver the message to the churches. The most important thing to remember is that His message was not just to seven churches in Asia Minor 2000 years ago. Rather, the Lord has a specific message to His church in these latter days. That means our church, and yours as well!

***we apologize for the late upload and poor sound quality of this episode. We are having trouble as we try to navigate getting our sermons both on Facebook as well as continue uploading them here. Thank you for your patience!

  • The Pursuit of the Church

    Colossians 3:12-17

Pastor Cory brings us this message from the book of Colossians, relating to our series on Vision. The church at Colossae was very near to Paul's heart. They had faced many attacks by false doctrines, but perhaps their biggest foe was their own flesh. Paul encourages the church to put off their old self, and to put on the new man, which is renewed in Christ. In these verses of chapter 3, Paul is effectively telling them what a healthy body of believers is supposed to pursue. The true church of Christ is to be bound by love, to be governed by the peace of God, to be led by the Word of God, and to be encouraged by the name of Jesus!
