 In the autumn of 2018, a funeral director in the small town of Red Cedar, Wisconsin receives a strange request from a grieving wife: her husband, who died suddenly of a heart attack, must have a closed casket. No exceptions. No viewing. The director, Luna, agrees without question. But the night before the service, a janitor finds the prep room door ajar and the body bag unzipped. What he sees sends him running into the rain. Luna arrives to find the room empty, the gurney wheeled into a corner, and a single wet footprint on the tile. What follows is a quiet, unsettling night spent searching for a corpse that seems to be moving on its own. A story about the spaces between death and rest, the things we agree not to ask, and the feeling that sometimes the dead are not done yet.
