  • The Talent (Part IV) | Nothing Multiplies While It's Buried
    Oct 28 2026

You were fine until you saw what somebody else was doing.

Their success, their resources, their opportunities—and suddenly what you have doesn't seem like enough.

But someone else's allocation doesn't determine the value of yours.

In this episode of The Liberating River, Wanda examines comparison through the parable of the talents and explores what happens when we dismiss small beginnings.

A modest savings contribution. One page of writing. A new skill. A single client. One meaningful step.

These things may appear small, but they give us something to work with.

The conversation also makes an essential distinction between avoidance and rest. Stewardship isn't about doing more at every opportunity. Sometimes it means protecting your capacity, preparing thoughtfully, or allowing yourself time to recover.

    Resting is not burying.

  • The Talent (Part III) | When Fear Makes the Decision
    Oct 21 2026

Potential can feel comfortable because it hasn't been tested.

But what happens when the fear of making a mistake prevents us from discovering what we're capable of doing?

In Part III of The Talent, Wanda continues exploring the parable of the talents and the thinking behind the servant's decision to bury what he had been given.

This conversation examines how fear can influence our understanding of responsibility, why discernment doesn't require complete certainty, and how waiting for the perfect decision can become a decision not to act.

Wanda also explores the difference between personal capacity and comparison.

The servant given two talents wasn't expected to produce what the servant given five could produce.

Yet we often measure our lives against people whose resources, experiences, opportunities, and responsibilities are entirely different from our own.

What happens when we're so focused on someone else's allocation that we stop developing our own?

This episode invites you to examine the difference between thoughtful preparation and avoidance—and consider what it means to participate in your life without knowing every step ahead.

A reflection to carry with you:

Are you making decisions based on what you know—or what you're afraid might happen?

  • The Talent (Part II) | When Preparation Turns Into Hiding
    Oct 14 2026

There's a difference between protecting something and burying it. Sometimes that difference is fear.

In Part II of The Talent, Wanda explores what stewardship actually requires—and why responsible-looking habits can sometimes keep us from developing what we already have.

From unopened financial statements and unused course knowledge to ideas that have remained in notebooks for years, this conversation examines the space between preparing for something and participating in it.

Drawing on the parable of the talents, Wanda challenges a common assumption: that keeping something safe always means we're caring for it well.

The conversation also explores a deeper possibility. What if we're not simply afraid of failure? What if we're afraid of the evidence that comes from actually trying?

This isn't an invitation to abandon planning, take unnecessary financial risks, or turn every gift into a business. It's an invitation to examine whether our preparation is still serving its purpose.

Reflection: Is there something in your life you've been carefully preserving that may now need thoughtful development?

  • The Talent (Part I) | Are You Protecting It—or Burying It?
    Oct 7 2026

What if the thing you're waiting for isn't actually the next thing you need?

In St. Matthew 25, Jesus tells the Parable of the Talents. And despite how we often use the word talent today, the original story wasn't about someone's ability to sing, write, teach, paint, or play the piano.

A talent was a measure of wealth.

But beneath the financial story is a much larger question:

What do you do with what has been entrusted to you?

    Your money.

    Your ideas.

    Your knowledge.

    Your opportunities.

    Your relationships.

    Your experiences.

We can spend a lot of time asking God for more. More clarity. More resources. Another opportunity. A better connection.

    An open door.

But perhaps there are moments when the question isn't what we're waiting to receive. It's what we're doing with what we already have.

In Part I, we look closely at the three servants—and especially the one who received a single talent. Guess what, he didn't lose it. He didn't squander it. He protected it and returned exactly what he had received.

But he never put it to work. And that leaves us with an uncomfortable question:

Is protecting something always the same as stewarding it?

    Maybe not.

  • The Origin (Part VI) | When the Pieces Finally Make Sense
    Sep 30 2026

Some stories take time before we're ready to tell them.

Not because we're ashamed of what happened, but because healing doesn't always happen when the event ends.

Sometimes healing looks like finally being able to tell the story without needing to change the ending.

In the final chapter of The Origin, I reflect on the woman I was before everything changed—and why I no longer want to go back to being her.

She loved deeply. But now that love includes wisdom.

This episode is also the answer to a question I've been asked many times:

    Why does LiberatingLiving™, LLC exist?

The answer is inside everything you've heard throughout The Origin.

    The financial lessons.

    The protection planning.

    The grief.

    The boundaries.

    The storytelling.

    The desire to teach.

For a long time, I saw them as individual pieces.

Eventually, I realized they were branches growing from the same tree.

Maybe that's how purpose sometimes develops—not as a complete blueprint, but one piece at a time.

We plant what we've been given, tend what begins growing, and keep moving even when we can't see the whole tree yet.

Thank you for walking this part of the river with me.

  • The Origin (Part V) | What Happened When Life Taught Me the Hard Way
    Sep 23 2026

Life does not ask permission before it changes.

It doesn't send a calendar invitation or warn us that one phone call, diagnosis, loss, or unexpected responsibility may change everything.

After sharing so much of my story throughout The Origin, Part V asks a different question:

What did all of it teach me?

In this episode, I share some of the lessons that fundamentally changed the way I understand preparation, love, strength, boundaries, money, time, and hope.

I learned that preparation doesn't have to come from fear.

Being prepared can be an act of love.

    Strong people still need help.

    Healthy boundaries can protect relationships.

Money is emotional—because underneath many financial decisions are feelings such as fear, hope, guilt, responsibility, shame, and generosity.

And ordinary moments matter more than we sometimes realize.

But perhaps the greatest lesson was understanding that my story didn't only happen to me.

    Maybe it happened through me.

Maybe lived experience can help someone else prepare sooner, have a difficult conversation, create a financial safeguard, seek support, or simply realize they're not alone.

I didn't share my story because it's extraordinary.

I shared it because it's true.

And sometimes truth is where freedom begins.

  • The Origin (Part IV) | The Cost of Wisdom: Rebuilding After the Crisis
    Sep 16 2026

The crisis eventually ends. But sometimes the consequences remain long after everything becomes quiet.

In Part IV of The Origin, I reflect on what happened when my house became empty again—and I finally had enough space to feel what years of caregiving, loss, financial strain, and responsibility had left behind.

Rebuilding taught me that financial recovery isn't only about making more money. I had to rebuild my thinking, understand protection differently, learn what preparation actually means, and recognize the connection between compassion and stewardship.

I also began asking a different question—not simply, How do I get out of this? but What is this season trying to teach me?

Some lessons cost money. Some cost time. Some cost relationships. Some cost tears.

But hard-earned wisdom can become something we use—not only to live differently ourselves, but perhaps to help someone else avoid a mistake or feel less alone.

This is a conversation about grief, money, preparation, faith, generosity, and becoming wiser without becoming harder.

  • The Origin (Part III) | When Grief Changes the Questions You Ask
    Sep 9 2026

We usually think grief is about missing someone.

But grief can also change the questions we ask about everything that remains.

In Part III of The Origin, I reflect on experiencing multiple losses and realizing that I wasn't only grieving the people I loved. I was also grieving the future I thought I would have with them.

Eventually, that grief reached beyond death.

It changed the way I thought about relationships, companionship, hope, and whether the life I had imagined for myself was still possible.

This episode explores what happens when loss changes your internal landscape—and why difficult questions don't necessarily mean you've stopped believing in what is still possible.

Loss taught me something else, too:

Birthdays matter. Conversations matter. Trips matter. Holding someone's hand matters. Ordinary Tuesdays matter.

    Grief may change the questions.

But grief does not have to write the ending.

The Origin is a series from The Liberating River™, exploring the experiences and decisions that shaped the thinking behind LiberatingLiving™.
