  • Unplanned – Navigating the unexpected at the Bar
    Mar 3 2026

Life doesn’t always run to schedule, even at the Bar. This podcast opens up honest conversations about the unexpected events — mental health difficulties, burnout, bereavement, and other unplanned crises - that can suddenly reshape a barrister’s working life.

With voices from across the profession, we explore what happens when things fall apart, the pressures that can push people to step back or leave practice, and the support that helps them find their footing again. We look at how clerks, colleagues, and wellbeing specialists work together to offer practical adjustments and compassionate pathways back into practice.

This is a space for understanding and reassurance, shining a light on the help available when the unexpected happens.

  • Advocating for Advocate
    Jan 6 2026

This episode is both an inspiring look at the role of pro bono at the Bar and a practical guide for barristers considering how volunteering can enrich their careers.

In this panel discussion, three barristers share their experiences of volunteering and mentoring with Advocate, the Bar’s national pro bono charity. Together, they explore the impact of pro bono work - not only on the clients who receive vital support, but also on their own professional and personal development.

The conversation highlights how engaging with pro bono work can be especially valuable for practitioners who are moving chambers, returning to practice, or navigating a career break - offering a meaningful way to stay connected, sharpen skills, and contribute to the profession.
