How Is He Podcast | Ep. 133

The lads guests tonight are proof that sometimes the best business ideas come from the most unexpected situations!

Paul Leonard had just qualified as an architect and had six months booked off to travel around South America. He'd saved €10,000, headed off, and after just four weeks… Covid sent him home! Most of us would have spent the next few months watching Netflix, but Paul decided to start a little Covid hobby instead.

That hobby became Blaa Giveaways, launched in 2020 with a €500 cash giveaway. Fast-forward to today, and we're talking cars, huge cash prizes, properties in Spain and Ireland, and over 100,000 followers on Instagram!

Joining Paul is Megan O'Regan Byrne, who became Blaa's first employee in 2024 as the business continued to grow. Tonight, Podge & Guich are getting behind the scenes of Blaa Giveaways: how it started; the risks; the challenges; and what it's like turning an idea into a serious business.

How Is He Podcast | Ep. 132

Joining Podge & Guich in studio today, are two people, who have taken a simple idea, good food & proper nutrition, and turned it into a growing business right here in Carlow Town and its surrounding area.

Jay and Cian are the team behind CookHub, a meal-prep business that's been making waves by bringing fresh, high-protein, nutritious meals straight to people's doors.

Today isn't just about what's on the menu. We're going to find out where the idea for CookHub came from, what it takes to build a food business from the ground up, the highs, the challenges, the risks, the craic, and what it's really like trying to turn an idea into a successful business.

And of course, the lads are going to get stuck into the food side of things as well, because let's be honest, they're going to have to find out whether these meals actually taste as good as they look!
