The history of the spice trade is crazy y'all! It's dark and violent; and in a time when black pepper was worth the same as gold, men yearned and killed for it. This is a multi-parter, and we chose to start out with the very topical, and controversial spice trader, Christopher Columbus. We start out with a brief overview of the ancient history and myths (there's dragons!) and then delve deep into exactly what Columbus did on his 4 voyages, and the aftermath.
