When you think of the skills that’s needed to run a business, what do YOU think of? Marketing + sales, branding, financial management, the list goes on.. These ARE skills that everyone advertises and promotes to those wanting to grow a business.

These, let’s say formal set of skills, are certainly skills we can work on to help our business grow. However, they are not the only areas we should place our focus.

And rather than relying heavily on gaining knowledge around these more formal set of skills, there’s a set of skills that one could argue are even more beneficial for regional small business owners because they directly improve the outcome + results you receive. This is what we are chatting about today :)

I feel like consistency is a dangerous word when chatting with a room full of creatives. Because the second consistency in business becomes the topic, I know most of you tune out. But before you do….

Being consistent is something that we are not. If anything, we creatives are consistent at being inconsistent. That’s our thing. It allows us to get creative, move on to something else quickly, produce ideas, create something magical that others didn’t see, it's our mojo.

However, and here’s the penny drop moment… consistency is what grows your business. And it’s not consistency overall. But it's being consistent in one area in particular. And today, that’s what we are talking about.

Opening the floor for feedback can be scary. We worry that by asking people their thoughts, that it will bring about a scurry of emotions, opinions and a harsh reality we aren’t ready to hear. But, here’s the thing. If you don’t do this, you will never know what they’re thinking. And if you don’t do this, you may be pouring your heart and soul into something that people don’t actually want. Confidence is the emotion that guides you as a business owner in EVERYTHING that you do. It is what allows you to serve, create, nurture, sell, grow, etc… If you don’t feel confident within your self, it shows and will be the thing that stops you in a heart beat.

Today, I share with you honestly how a lack of self confidence stopped me for the past 6 months in my business. Why, how, what and where I am at right now and some insights that I have learnt that will hopefully help you in your journey too!
