Good evening. Hawaii. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you feel it immediately. That thick blanket of cloud is trapping the heat. We're sitting at 79 degrees right now. And the overnight low only dipped to a balmy 75. In the next 24 hours. It's a tale of three islands today. Maui hit the sunshine lottery. You're looking at clear skies and a high of 84 degrees. Perfect beach weather if you ask me. Oahu, you're caught in the middle. Scattered showers linger through this evening before tapering off. Expect more sun breaks with a high near 82. Just watch those east winds gusting to 23 miles an hour. They will find every gap in your umbrella. The Big Island catches the brunt of the moisture. A 70 percent chance of rain tonight, especially along those southeast-facing slopes. Highs reach 78 today with scattered showers continuing through midday Thursday. Keep your eyes on the sky tonight. Looking ahead, the pattern stays relatively quiet through the weekend. Highs hold steady in the low 80s for Oahu and Maui. And the upper 70s for the Big Island. But next week brings a shift. Deep tropical moisture moves in Tuesday into Wednesday. Rain chances jump to 80 percent for some areas. We could see heavy rain and thunderstorms by midweek. A quick note for the boaters. Mar 4 2026
Good morning. Hawaii. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you might think the thermometer is stuck. We held at 75 degrees all night long. That was your low. That was your high. It's just remarkably steady out there. In the next 24 hours. Trade winds are running the show today, but each island is getting a different experience. Let's hop over to Maui. You've got the ticket today. Highs climb to 83 degrees under partly sunny skies. East winds are gentle, right around 14 miles an hour. It cools down to a comfortable 66 tonight. Over on Oahu, keep an eye on the sky this morning. Isolated showers linger before noon, but then the sun breaks through. You'll hit 81 degrees. Just watch for those gusty easterly winds. They could hit 28 miles an hour at times. Tonight, you stay warm with a low of 73. The Big Island sees the most active weather. Expect scattered showers under mostly cloudy skies with a high near 78. Southeast winds stay lighter, just 6 to 12 miles an hour. Tonight dips to 67. Look up tonight if you can. We've a full moon rising. It should be incredible if the clouds cooperate. Thursday looks drier everywhere. Maui hits 84 degrees. Oahu and the Big Island clear out nicely by midday, reaching 82 and 78 respectively. The pattern holds through the weekend. Trade winds ease up slightly and shift southeast. You'll see those typical afternoon showers along the windward slopes. Then early next week, a front approaches from the northwest. That brings wetter weather and gusty southerly winds by Tuesday. We're gaining over a minute of daylight every single day. The spring equinox is just two weeks away. The light is returning, folks. • 3/3 Hawaii Weather 6 AM: Coastal Flood Statement
    Mar 3 2026
Good morning. Hawaii. I'm Aaron Jolly. That high pressure system parked north of us? It's squeezing the atmosphere like a tube of toothpaste. And the trade winds are what's coming out. Expect breezy easterlies gusting to 25 miles an hour on Oahu. Maui gets it even stronger at 28. In the next 24 hours. Now the Big Island is telling a different story today. A weak upper level disturbance is draped overhead, keeping skies cloudy with showers likely through midday. Highs top out around 78 degrees. Hop over to Oahu and you're looking at partly sunny skies and 81. Maui wins the thermometer contest at 82 with just some haze floating around. Tonight the Big Island stays damp. Lows settle near 67 degrees. Oahu holds warmer at 73 under cloudy skies. Maui matches the Big Island at 67. Quick note on something that matters. A Coastal Flood Statement runs through Wednesday morning. Peak monthly high tides plus elevated water levels mean minor flooding in low lying coastal areas during the early morning hours. Don't drive through flooded roads. Just don't. Wednesday plays a similar tune. Moderate trades, scattered morning showers. But then things get interesting. Thursday into the weekend, winds ease and shift east southeast. Translation? Sunshine takes over with highs in the low 80s across most islands. The Big Island stays a touch cooler in the upper 70s. A possible cold front lurks early next week, but that's still fuzzy. One more thing worth stepping outside for tonight. Full moon rising over the Pacific. We're gaining over a minute of daylight each day now, with the spring equinox just two weeks out. You can feel the season turning. Charge your phone, check the tide charts if you're near the coast. And enjoy that moonrise tonight. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
