À propos de ce contenu audio
So often we feel disappointed and frustrated because things haven't worked out as we thought they would.
What we don't realise is that we are the cause of that negativity. We think it is reality that is the problem but actually it was our expectation that was incorrect.
Our expectation is an imagined future. It doesn't exist, we have just projected what we think the outcome and the path to that outcome should be.
It's the gap between expectation and reality that causes us the real pain.
On the flip side, when reality is better than expected we feel really good. This is because dopamine is released in the brain when our reality is better than what we expected.
When reality does not measure up to expectation our brain signals to stop releasing dopamine and this is where the discomfort comes from.
