  • A Civil Engineering Marvel!! - #15
    Apr 21 2026

On today's episode we are going to continue our series on sawing with a visit by the unmatched Professor Steve Kurtz, Ph.D., P.E. We will be talking shop about his purchase of a Marvel Saw, how it is used for nearly 100% of the cuts to make bridge parts, and how they prepare blanks for the machine shop, among many other things. Be sure to tune in for an extra Easter Egg sort of topic that will bring more levity to the episode. We can't wait! This episode will accompany and complement my written article in the pages of Cutting Tool Engineering magazine for the month of March.

We did it!!! We secured a coffee deal!! "The Daily Grind" now has its own official coffee!!!! The peerless minds over at Fresh Roasted Coffee out of Sunbury, PA have been so kind as to send some of their blends my way to drink while on the show. I am very thankful and excited to get this brand some exposure on the airwaves. These guys and gals offer a mile-long list of delicious blends and brews, be sure to check out their website, link below, and use the code DAILYGRIND10 to get 10% off your order!!

    Apr 2 2026

On today's episode we are going to continue our series on sawing with a little primer on the subject, covering the basics on various different uses of sawing in industry. Not just bandsaws! We will be touching on quite a bit of various methods. To include, but not limited to reciprocating saws, chop saws, cold saws, as well as band saws of different types. This episode will accompany and complement my written article in the pages of Cutting Tool Engineering magazine for the month of March. Sadly, the guest I had tapped for the episode had to bow out at the last moment for personal reasons, leaving you with just me for your morning commute this week. Another bonus to start out this episode!!! We did it!!! We secured a coffee deal!! "The Daily Grind" now has its own official coffee!!!!
