Devon Wilson spent years selling drugs, abusing drugs, accumulating criminal charges, and running from warrants. But eventually he realized there was one pursuit he couldn’t escape.

God was after him.

In this episode of The Contagious Faith Podcast, Devon shares how a praying mother, unexpected encounters with strangers, a jail cell, and Adult Teen Challenge became part of his journey toward surrendering his life to Jesus.

Devon describes opening a Bible while incarcerated and beginning to recognize that God had been pursuing him long before he was ready to surrender. After being given another chance by a judge, Devon entered Teen Challenge and began a transformation that has now included more than 20 years free from drugs.

But freedom was only the beginning.

God eventually called Devon into what he describes as “kingdom business.” Through Sword of the Spirit Ministries, he now returns to prisons, serves people experiencing homelessness, and reaches communities many others avoid.

One defining moment came through a dream. Devon saw himself riding a train through comfortable neighborhoods until it finally stopped among addicts, criminals, prostitutes, and abandoned buildings. When he resisted getting off, he heard: “You don’t get to pick and choose where you go.”
