The gang is back on the yellow couch with lots to discuss. Jonathan has started a new venture @girly.songs on Insta posting his own music, including covers of (you guessed it) girly songs. He's talented. Be sure to check it out. They get into travel and who speaks multiple languages. Have movies changed and become infested with propaganda? Eminem is featured on Kid Rock's new gospel album and there are so many questions. Fear mongering is becoming a problem. Like so much so the talk about Red Dawn, the original of course. The second segment heavily dives into the video game Hood Warfare II and why it's weird, terrible, and problematic. Yes, there was a Hood Warfare One. And Jordan has some thoughts on who created it and why. The conversation starts with Grand Theft Auto and why they are different. Can you spot A.I.? It's a problem and getting worse. The indistinguishable and the future of A.I. and it's coming faster than we think. Good luck! The gang is back at it on the yellow couch and they have lots to discuss. They start with praise for Jason opening for Whitney Cummings at the Knight Theater this weekend. Big opportunity and the experience was outstanding. Whitney was very incredibly cool and more. She gave Jason some specific praise, which we also want to hear. Jordan also had a big show at The Comedy Club at Duckworth's. And Jonathan had a week of theater shows on the Bored Teachers Comedy Tour. There were a lot of great moments and he was really tired a lot of the time. You'll have to listen to understand why. He got to visit Graceland and a few towns in Arkansas that proved very cool. The guys had a big week! The guys get into the Shane Gillis appearance and monologue on SNL. They unpack many of the criticisms of his performance, including describing how women these days at the gym dress like whores. His words. They unpack that misogyny, comedy philosophy, joke structure, performance etiquette, open mics, and new comedian behavior. Ultimately they break down Shane as a comedian, his set choices, and the current fraternity of comedy. This was a challenging week for standup comedy and comedians. There were dividing lines, strongholds were established, and philosophies have probably not changed. Oh and there may be a public execution in the US for the first time in 90 years joining Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and North Korea. Everything is fine. Nothing to see here. The second segment touches on Kanye and his problematic merch...AGAIN. This segment is actually a pallet cleanser as they admire the amazing and pure artistic performance by Rosalia on SNL. The contrast between her and Shane Gillis is painfully obvious and rather significant. They end the episode on a bizarre Would You Rather that you'll just have to listen to because it's...a lot. The team is back on the yellow couch...and fired up! The Comedy Zone now is hosting shows on Mondays and Tuesdays for a variety of local comedy shows, including standup, improv, showcases, and new concepts. The first week was The Comedy Zone Allstars and it was exceptional. October 12th will host the Who's Headlining Anyway tour! The conversation shifts to a poignant observation that comedians aren't coveting the comedy club roles as much as they did in the past. The influx of pop-up shows, brewery showcases, and established traveling shows have changed the comedy landscape. Whether that is good, bad or simply a new reality is something to consider. The new comedy landscape and how to get to the Headliner status is challenging to navigate. There also may be a new reality in the social media world and how to attract followers and gain notoriety but it also might not be what you think. More importantly, it might not be what you want. It might frustrate you even more...just ask Jason. The second segment goes hard against the absolute shit show of Cornell University, its executives, fraternities, and anyone else associated with that school. With a heavy and irate heart, they discuss the nightmare that was the Cornell 57 and their assault of Jane Doe. The entire situation is appalling, heartbreaking, and catastrophic. There is an epidemic that needs to be stopped immediately. Men need to do better. Men need to be as angry as women. Men need to speak up. Men need to stand up against the fear of challenging their friends who are committing crimes. It's on us. There is no other way to see it. Our hearts, admiration, and support go out to Jane Doe.
