  • S2: Ep01 - Rethinking Birth Plans & Preferences
    Jan 7 2026

In this episode of the Breathe to Birth Podcast, Chloe explores why birth plans and preferences matter. Not as rigid checklists or guarantees, but as a way to feel informed, involved and supported in your birth.

Chloe shares why birth plans aren’t about controlling how birth unfolds, but about understanding your options, communicating what matters to you, and feeling able to take an active role in decision-making as labour progresses. She reflects on how preparation, clarity, and flexibility can change how birth feels, even when things don’t go exactly as expected.

This episode is an invitation to rethink birth plans as a tool for confidence and self-trust, rather than something that can “fail” if birth takes a different path.

In this episode, you’ll hear about:

    • Why birth plans are often misunderstood

    • The difference between a rigid plan and meaningful preferences

    • How birth plans can support calm and confidence in labour

    • Practical tips for writing birth preferences that feel realistic and supportive

    • How knowing your options can help you feel more involved in your birth

  • S1: Ep07 - Laura & Luke's Birth Story - A Positive Induction
    Dec 3 2025

In this episode, Laura shares the birth story of her son, Luke - a powerful and uplifting example of how an induction can be a positive experience when you feel informed, supported, and actively involved in your choices.

After spending quite a bit of time in and out of hospital during the last few weeks, Laura navigated a lot of uncertainty leading up to birth. When induction became the recommended option, she drew on her preparation, her understanding of her choices, and the tools she’d learned to stay grounded and connected to herself throughout the process.

Although her labour involved moments of intensity and shifting plans, Laura’s ability to advocate for what felt right for her is what shaped her experience as positive.

    You’ll hear about:

    • How Laura managed the uncertainty of repeated hospital visits • What helped her trust herself when plans changed • How she advocated for her needs during her induction • The tools that supported her through intense moments • Why, in her words, feeling involved made all the difference

This is such a reassuring and empowering listen, especially if induction is part of your birth journey or something you’re exploring.

  • S1: Ep 05 - Rachel & Otis - A Positive Casarean After A Traumatic First Birth
    Nov 19 2025

In this episode, Chloe is joined by Rachel to explore the birth of her second baby, Otis, a birth that unfolded in a completely different way to her first.

After a traumatic first experience that ended in an emergency caesarean under general anaesthetic, Rachel approached her second pregnancy with a desire to feel more informed, more involved, and more connected to her birth experience.

Her plan was for a vaginal birth, and she began with an induction, but ultimately made the decision to move to a caesarean. This time, though, everything felt different.

Although her caesarean was a decision she made from an informed and empowered place, it was still intense at times and the breathing techniques she’d learnt helped her through the hardest moments.

    In this conversation, Rachel shares:

    • How her first birth shaped her intentions for the second • What was different about how she prepared this time • How being informed helped her feel more in control • The emotional and physical shifts she experienced along the way • Why she now feels her second birth was a genuinely positive experience

It’s a powerful reminder that positive birth doesn’t mean easy, pain-free, or “going to plan.” It means feeling supported, informed, and an active participant in your own experience, whatever path your birth takes.
