Episode 9 – Colossians 1:1–8

In this episode of The Break Check Podcast, we begin something new.

For the first time, we’re walking verse-by-verse through a book of the Bible—starting with Colossians 1:1–8. Together, we read the passage and unpack Paul’s message to the church in Colossae: faith in Christ, love for the saints, and the hope laid up in heaven.

We talk about:

• Who Paul is writing to—and why it matters
• The power of a Gospel that is “bearing fruit and growing”
• What authentic Christian faith actually looks like
• How encouragement and gratitude shape a healthy church

This marks a shift for us as we begin reading Scripture in order and slowing down to really discuss it. No cherry-picking. No rushing. Just opening the Word and letting it speak.

You gave your life to Christ… now what?

In Part 3 of our new three-part series, The What Now Series, Louis and I walk alongside new believers who are asking that exact question. This episode is all about helping you take the next intentional steps in your new faith journey.

We cover some depth on Evangelism in Christianity, and some of the holdups most believers face.

Starting with the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) we discuss what Jesus instructed us to do before he ascended in to heaven.

Some interesting stats:

80% of church goers admit to not regularly sharing their faith with others.

95% of which admit to having never led someone to Christ.

The big question is why?

Is it a Lack of Knowledge? Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus doesn't tell us to become educated first, he says go and trust Me.

Is it Fear? Romans 8:26-27 Tells us again, that He is with us and fear shouldn't be.

Is it Apathy, Do we even care? Romans 10:4 tells us we must care!

Between the scriptures referenced in this episode, and Louis and Joe's relative experiences, this one is for sure a challenge we can all get behind!

In Part 2 of our new three-part series, The What Now Series, Louis and I walk alongside new believers who are asking that exact question. This episode is all about helping you take the next intentional steps in your new faith journey.

We cover two foundational practices every believer should focus on early:

1️⃣ Connect inside of your Church – We feel the next step in diving deeper into your faith journey, is connecting with a small group in your church. Louis and I talk about ways you can do this, as well as our own experiences with this.

Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to met together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.


2️⃣ Serve in your Church – We talk about being spiritual contributors within our churches, and about the fulfillment when you are contributing to the Kingdom of God. Even holding the door, or driving a golf cart in the name of Jesus can be a blessing well beyond our understanding.
