Welcome to the Brand Mama Podcast, a space for the modern day mamapreneur to connect with other mom-owned businesses and find guidance in how to strengthen your brand.

I'm your host, Maddy Hazen – a self taught brand & website designer, creative director, and fellow mamapreneur. As the founder of Pais + Haze Creative Co., I have designed for nearly 100 brands, so I know a thing or two about marketing. As a boy mom to a toddler, I also know a thing or two about navigating motherhood. My business experienced a major shift when we started our family, so I know firsthand what it’s like to be trying to be all the things all the time. This podcast is a safe space for authenticity, where we can talk about the real challenges that come with being both a devoted mom and a driven business owner.

You know the saying, ‘you’re never too old to need your mom’? Well, the same can be true in business. Everyone needs a little guidance, accountability, and community. You’re an impressive business owner, but maybe not a branding expert — so I’m here to make it feel a little less daunting and lonely. I will keep it real, offering down-to-earth advice on branding, design, marketing, and social media strategies without industry jargon. It's like having a mentor, therapist, and friend all rolled into one — a Brand Mama!

I won’t pretend to have all the answers in this ever changing landscape, because I am constantly learning, growing, and improving how to balance being a working mom. While I will share insight into my area of expertise in branding & marketing, I am not here to give you a blueprint to follow. I hope you feel inspired and empowered, but never intimidated or inadequate. You can let go of the imposter syndrome, pressure, and comparison game here.

Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur, a seasoned business owner, or a stay-at-home mom with dreams of starting your own venture, this podcast is for you. With a mixture of guest interviews and solo episodes, there will be something for everyone.

      In this episode, I share the story of how I started my business, Pais + Haze Creative Co., and the different stages of growth and slow seasons throughout the last 7 years. I talk about imposter syndrome, struggling to be content with your current success, and how becoming a mom completely changed my passion and motivation for my career.

      Through getting married, 2 house moves, suffering loss, and starting a family, my desire to pursue entrepreneurship has been tested and I have had to dig deep to identify if I want to keep going. In this episode, I'm being honest about how long it took me to get back to work after having a baby, how it can really feel to be a parent and choose to work, and setting boundaries to create a healthy balance and environment for my family.
