    • The POSSIBLE link between Mass Shootings and Family Systems
      Feb 13 2026

I know all too well of the impact of being estranged or alienated. Justin, the biological father of the killer in the recent Tumbler Ridge tragedy, was, and according to his statement, not based on his desire to not be part of his child's life. Too often we praise single parents for the hard work they do - what if, that single parent never let the other one in (Unless due to legitimate reasons such as ongoing physical and mental abuse)? Family law in my opinion, needs to start paying attention to these situations and in my experience, our many calls for reform of how we manage family challenges and systems, are being ignored in Canada and many other parts of the world. Some countries are starting to get that mental health issues, start with the parents and/or the environment or dynamic they create. My heart and tears, as well as my anger and sadness goes out to all those impacted by this tragedy. I can't begin to imagine what you are going though.

Yes, these are the similar to the famous words of Bad Bunny. With the recent mass murder in Tumbler Ridge, BC, Canada, I am reminded of how we all can contribute to a world with more love, acceptance, support, and awareness of mental health so that tragedy's like this one, end.
