    Mar 5 2026
Good morning. Alabama. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you'll feel something that doesn't belong in early March. We're sitting at 62 degrees under clear skies. That's 57 degrees warmer than normal. And we're about to crank the heat even higher. In the next 24 hours. Birmingham could tie a record today. Back in 1974, we hit 83 degrees on this date. Today's forecast? 82. We're one degree shy of history. Central Alabama climbs to 82 degrees under mostly sunny skies. A gentle south breeze at 5 to 10 miles an hour keeps things comfortable. Down along the coast, patchy dense fog hangs around until 8 A.M. Give yourself extra time if you're heading out early. Once that fog burns off, you're looking at 80 degrees and partly sunny skies. Push north to the Tennessee Valley and you'll find 80 degrees with a bit more punch in the wind. Gusts could hit 25 miles an hour this afternoon. Tonight stays ridiculously mild. Lows only drop to 62 degrees in central areas, 65 at the coast, 61 up north. That's 57 degrees above normal for overnight lows. We're also gaining over 2 minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise was at 6:12, sunset comes at 5:48. And tonight brings a full moon. Friday introduces a front that stalls and opens the door for scattered showers and storms by afternoon. Highs again near 80. The weekend turns unsettled. Saturday brings likely showers and storms, especially west of I-57. Sunday stays wet with highs cooling into the mid-70s. Rain chances continue Monday before we dry out briefly Tuesday with another shot at 80-plus degrees. Soak in this spring preview today. The pattern shifts tomorrow. Mar 4 2026
Good morning. Alabama. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you might feel like you're still dreaming. 57 degrees at dawn? That's actually your overnight low, because the thermometer refused to drop overnight. But hold onto your hats, folks, because we're rocketing toward 80 degrees this afternoon. That's a solid 58 degrees to 58 degrees warmer than we've any right to be in early March. In the next 24 hours. Here's the only wrinkle in this perfect spring preview. If you're waking up in Montgomery. Auburn, or Troy, you're likely staring into a wall of white. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 A.M. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less, so please give yourself some extra time this morning. Down along the coast, that patchy fog lifts a little sooner, clearing out by 8 A.M. Once the sun burns it off, we're looking at gorgeous weather. Coastal Alabama hits 80 degrees this afternoon with a light southeast breeze at 5 to 10 miles an hour. Central Alabama warms right up to 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies, though south winds pick up a bit more speed there. Head north toward the Tennessee Valley and you'll find a few more clouds, but highs still top out at a very comfortable 76 degrees. Tonight stays mild and partly cloudy with lows around 60 degrees. Plus, we've got a full moon rising. Making it a perfect evening to sit on the porch after dinner. This warmth isn't done with us yet. Thursday pushes the mercury even higher, with 82 degrees in central Alabama and 81 in the north. But the pattern shifts Friday. Showers and thunderstorms roll in by afternoon. And that rain chance sticks around through the weekend. Saturday and Sunday look unsettled with scattered storms, though highs stay in the upper 70s to low 80s. Enjoy this sneak peek of spring today. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
