Creative and media practitioner Sabelo Mnukwa explores how identities—across race, gender, class, and culture—intersect and shape our lived experiences, particularly in African contexts. Drawing from his background in psychology, philosophy, and media, Sabelo contrasts Western and African understandings of identity, highlighting the spiritual and ancestral dimensions often overlooked in dominant narratives. He discusses the media’s powerful role in either reinforcing or challenging social norms, the cultural silences around queerness and vulnerability, and how creative platforms can open space for marginalised voices.
