Absence makes the heart grow fonder, so today I simply want to say hello, reconnect and bring you up to speed on what I've been up to and what I have planned for 2022.

Life Updates: 2022
In early January of 2022, Mike had to move out of the beach cottage he'd happily rented for over 11 years, because it was sold. He lost his full-time job of three-plus years at Simplecast/SiriusXM on the exact same day. The good news: he found a place for rent right across the alley from the old cottage, and the timing freed him up to focus on Mike Murphy Co and making a living as a tutorial maker and content creator — his long-standing North Star.
"Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge." — Eckhart Tolle
Life Updates: 2021
Pandemic life didn't change Mike's day-to-day much — he'd already worked from home, and Florida largely ignored the shutdowns. He stayed healthy throughout, but the podcasting industry's pandemic boom meant a heavier workload, and by mid-2021 he was starting to burn out. In August 2021 he took a 7-week leave of absence to recharge.
The Trip of a Lifetime
That leave became a walk across the Camino de Santiago: starting in St. Jean Pied de Port, France on August 26, 2021, walking 15-20 miles a day over the Pyrenees and across Spain, and finishing in Muxia in early October — 650 miles in 40-plus days. The days were simple: walk, eat, drink, sleep, repeat, with a daily mantra of "one thing to do, and all day to do it."
