  • Outsourcing in the Philippines with John Jonas the Owner of Onlinejobs.ph
    Sep 16 2022
In this episode of Tenaciously Human Podcast, we have John Jonas the Owner of Onlinejobs.ph. He is a husband and a father of 5 kids, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an entrepreneur, and the host of The Secret Sauce of Outsourcing. In this episode, he talked about how he discovered outsourcing, made his life better, helped other people - and never went back.

He is the owner and founder of Onlinejobs.ph – a platform where you can hire Filipino virtual assistants. This can be extremely helpful for you as a business owner - so make sure to listen to this episode!

    Sneak Peek:

06:30 What do you do to make sure that you can juggle the different challenges that come with working from home?

06:41 No other success in life compensates for failure in the home - David O. McKay

11:00 I had turned work over to some of my team. I had two guys in the Philippines working for me and to whom I turned most of my work over to, and I was amazed that they actually were capable and competent in taking over things.

15:38 Philippines is just different. The experience is different. The culture is different. They are hardworking and honest and super loyal and they don't wanna steal your business.

31:00 So the biggest difference that you're seeing between what you do and others is that you're not looking for someone to just come in, do something and then leave you're hiring an employee, right? You're hiring someone who's gonna be on your team, ideally for a very long time.

35:32 People always ask two questions. How do I know I'm ready to hire someone? Who do I hire first?

  • Putting Home First with Cory Carlson
    Sep 8 2022
In this episode of Tenaciously Human Podcast, we have Cory Carlson. He is a Christian, a husband, a father of three, a former executive, a speaker, an author, and a coach. As he advocates winning at home first, he talks about the early years of his career and how he navigated success, failures, and priorities in life.

He shared how God moved in his life, turned around, achieved success when he seek balance in work, faith, and faith.

    Sneak Peek:

13:15 I think God works in mysterious ways in our lives. And you felt his hand in something like being fired, right? To me, that takes a lot of faith. And probably experience in trusting God. Were there other experiences in your life that led up to you to say, you know what? I trust God at this moment, even though I don't know all the facts.

15:49 You try, these big moments are pretty clear, but it sounds like you had these little moments along the way that you start to build [your faith. And then going forward, it's a lot easier to trust God because you've learned by degrees to.

17:15 I control the input. God controls the impact.

19:16 What does that mean in, in practicality, to put home first?

22:20 We've gotta go on dates with our spouse. Otherwise, we'll become roommates. We gotta be intentional with our kids and be their loudest voice to them. Otherwise, culture's gonna be the loudest voice.

28:52 Everything can be taken away from us. Right? As we start to accomplish things in our lives and, find some semblance of professional success, it's really easy to look back and think, I can trust my bank account because there are a million dollars in there, more than I can trust God, cuz he's intangible. Right? But that money can disappear. You get a certain number of followers on Instagram and then you get banned or someone kicks you off Twitter. So many of these things can get taken away really quickly. And we don't know really how intangible, how unstable our life is. The only things that we can rely on ultimately is God.

  • Making Impact by Helping People Recover Addiction with Clay Olsen
    Sep 1 2022
In this episode of Tenaciously Human Podcast, we have Clay Olsen. He is a Christian, soon-to-be father of four, and the CEO and founder of Impact Suite, an award-winning self-care app that has been helping thousands of people. He is here to talk about how he started making an impact in helping people recover from addiction, and becoming a part of the journey of healing and recovery for many people.

    Sneak Peek:

14:27 You started this, this movement to talk about [pornography] when did it transition into not only talking about it, but helping people to recover from this?

15:49 There was no good solution. And so we decided, We need to make it free. And so all these other groups that we love and still, support and encourage people to get professional support if they need it.

19:40 It was free for youth and it still is free for youth and it will always be free for youth. So young people don't pay for premium access to the tools.

20:16 That's incredible because as I reflect back on my life and my struggle with addiction, my struggle with mental health, all those sorts of things. The tools that I know now as an adult, would've been immensely valuable to me as a teenager.

29:00 I've chosen a career path that is very purpose driven in everything. I have a lot on my plateI find a lot of purpose at work and not everyone does. I get that, but even if you do or don't at work, it's important to find the purpose at home as well.

40:40 If I could scream one message from the mountaintops on this topic, addiction. Recovery is that there needs to be a paradigm shift in the way that we think and talk about mental health because there's one that is not only more true but far more hopeful for individuals as they hear a message that tells them, that they can heal and they can reach lasting recovery and healing it doesn't have to be permanent.

    Aug 25 2022
This is the 100th episode of the Tenaciously Human Podcast! it wouldn’t be possible without your support! I am blown away that we've made it this far. It has been super fun. We have had the opportunity to talk with guests everywhere; from the next town over to all the way around the world. It has been just a great experience and I've loved learning so much along with all of you.

Some other great news that I want to share with you is that we reached the top 10% of podcasts in the world across all categories. I’m very excited that we are growing and that the powerful message that we really believe in is reaching many people around the world.

I’m also writing a book based on all the stories and lessons from this podcast and in this episode I’m going to share with you the 7 steps on how to find wild professional success without sacrificing faith and family that will be the chapters of my book.

Here’s a sneak peak of the podcast:

01:31 You can have professional success, you can pursue it, you should pursue it, and you can do so without losing faith, without sacrificing family. In fact, you can be empowered by those two things and that they all kind of feed off each other: faith, family, and business. When you focus on all three of those they strengthen each other and each one raises the others.

08:40 Step 1- Identify who you are

09:35 If you lose your job today, does that make you a worse person? Does that change who you are? The answer is no, it doesn't change who you are at all.

13:28 Step 2- Define your Success

14:22 You need to look at it not just professionally, but what is your life gonna look like when you reach this goal? When you reach this vision? And most importantly, what is your life gonna look like along the journey to get there?

16:00 Step 3- Stake Your Claim

17:56 Step 4- ADD by Subtraction

24:40 Step 5- Mental and Emotional Awareness

27:46 I find validation is such a powerful thing in the world. If we can validate each other more. It's gonna, I mean, that, that's the secret in my mind to world peace.

    30:00 Step 6- Time Management

32:15 Step 7- Revisit the River

  • God Wants You to be Rich with Yael Trusch
    Aug 19 2022
In this episode of Tenaciously Human Podcast, we have Yael Trusch. She helps Jewish women with their finances, is the award-winning host of the Jewish Money Matters Podcast, and is dubbed the Jewish Oprah. We talked about God, faith, money, what it means to be rich, and finances in general. Listen to this episode and be enlightened about money and faith with Yael Trusch.

    Sneak Peek:

07:40 If God wants you to be rich? I believe that God wants me to be rich. Do you believe that God wants everybody to be rich?

08:40 We still have to operate with the perspective that God is good and God is kind, and God has a plan and a mission for you and he's gonna give you all the resources and the capabilities, and you just have to let, go and accept.

10:40 How can I become less me-centered and more God-centered?

22:00 It is really important for all of us to understand the concept of trust in God. You and I, we all trust something. We trust that we're gonna wake up in the morning and there's gonna be the sun. We trust our partners. We trust our coworkers as we trust but sometimes what we fail to understand is we have to trust in something so much greater than all of that.

24:00 There's not one more hour of work that I can do that's going to give me more money. I just have to do what God wants expects from me and I have a blueprint and it says you are gonna work six days a week, not seven days a week, you're gonna be off the seventh day. You're gonna be off. You're gonna close your store. You're gonna close your computer, your cell phone. There's no business, zero business, and yet you're gonna make the same amount of money.

37:05 You are exactly where you are. Stay focused on the mission. Stay focused on who you are, what you can do at this moment, and what God needs from me at this moment. If I'm a mother of little children, God needs me for the children. God needs me. If I'm a married woman, God needs me to be invested in that marriage.

  • Spirituality and Meditation with Linda Modaro
    Aug 11 2022
In this episode of Tenaciously Human Podcast, we have Linda Modaro. Linda Modaro is the founder and lead teacher at Sati Sangha, a vibrant online meditation community that offers daily virtual meditation sittings, online retreats, and in-person retreats throughout the year. She teaches meditation and she’s here with us to guide and teach us about meditation.

    Sneak Peek:

03:56 How intertwined is Buddhism and meditation?

05:00 The practice I teach “reflective meditation” is really our anchor for somebody to just sit quietly with their mind and with their life. And then when they come out of meditation to reflect upon that and then to talk about it with somebody.

07:00 Just focus on. Forget about everything else. I'd say our path emerged from the understanding that the mind is also the mind and your life and the way you feel about your life is also an object of meditation and that when you sit down and you're open or more receptive or more gentle to what your mind is saying to what you are thinking about, you're being kind and you're being actually caring to your mind and body.

24:00 If someone doesn't feel like they have a spiritual friend or they'd like another spiritual friend in their life. How would you encourage them to find that individual?

32:12 Defining what success looks like in meditation

39:11 Acknowledge those feelings, acknowledge those thoughts, those emotions, and release them through meditation, as opposed to just bearing them down deep and hoping that they don't resurface at some point down the road.

  • The Power of Prayer with Eli Albrecht
    Aug 4 2022
In this episode of Tenaciously Human Podcast, we have again Eli Albrecht. One of the things that makes us so unique as a podcast is we talk about how our faith elevates our family and our business and vice versa and Eli will share information on how he believes that the Jewish faith benefits profession and benefits family. Eli Albrecht, who is a husband, a father, a lawyer, and a member of the Jewish faith.

    Sneak Peek:

5:39 It has two major benefits (Prayer) Every commandment I believe is meant to benefit us, to make us more rich people and, and healthy people and, express that to society and create a messianic society.
08:00 Prayer helps to build, comradery and congregation.
08:21 What I view as the core risk of the professional, especially the ambitious professional is that we start viewing ourselves as the work we do, and that I think is one of the greatest risks and the greatest pitfalls that we've all fallen into is that we view, we view our failures as us, but like we also view our successes as us.
16:21 Why are the Jewish people so successful professionally? The number of CEOs in the country that are Jewish is disproportionately higher than the number of Jews in the country.

  • Trusting God with Our Life with Juli Wenger
    Jul 28 2022
In this episode of Tenaciously Human Podcast, we have Juli Wenger. A certified professional coach, speaker, author of "Fired-up, Fulfilled, and Free" and the host of Becoming Ourselves - The Podcast. We talked about trusting God in our lives, she shared how she found her freedom and followed her purpose.

    Sneak Peek:

9:05 There's kind of two schools of thought that I am debating in my head. One is that God made you this way. There are strengths to this “weakness”, right? There's a flip side to this coin and you need to embrace the challenges that come with this because it also leads to strengths. And the second is that God did create you this way. And he also created modern medicine to help you. And so which one is it?

17:40 And I was pleasing people all day long and I was overachieving all day long just for those hits of validation from outside– That maybe I was enough, but the problem with those hits is they fade. And so He reminded me that the roles and the titles and all of those things, they don't actually define who we are.
And as I worked through some of that, I came to this point where I realized that I am love joy, strength, flight, and grace. That is the essence of Julie when you strip all the titles and all the roles away. And it's a reflection of Him
29:00 I am choosing today to trust that God has me exactly where he wants me to be. I am choosing today to see myself the way he sees me. I am choosing to remember and be reminded of who I am and that my value and my enoughness is not tied up in my roles, but my enoughness is settled because he's enough.

43:15 From a religious standpoint, I believe God communicates with us, but even from a more secular standpoint, that is where so many of these ideas and thoughts and new ways to do things come to us is in those moments of stillness. And I believe it comes from God.
