On this episode of Talking Heat, Slug, Turk, and Hot Sauce Guide sit down with Chef Brian Bartbow. Chef Bartbow is a private Chef in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has fully immersed himself into the hot sauce industry. From hot sauce awards judge, to remixing recipes with various types of hot sauce, to now hosting an annual internet famous dinner party with Hot Sauce Guide the night before the Fiery Foods Show. The boys sit down and discuss football in a respectful manner (as all 4 root for AFC North team). Chef tells us how he got into the culinary field and what his day to day looks like. We learn about his process and how he maps everything out during his meals and meal prep. Slug and HSG try the nacho recipe they made that chef provided, although Slug maybe started a bit earlier than planned (like a lot bit earlier). Turk feeling under the weather, did not make his nachos until after the recording but do check out the incredible pictures he has. The guys talked about what they like to cook and chef drops some special nuggets on how to amp up your favorite recipes. Kiwi anyone? On this episode of Talking Heat, FGC and I sit down with Shaun of Sauce Leopard. Someone new drops the first F bomb of the episode, beating Slug to the punch. The boys get to know Shaun, and how he got into the sauce game. We reminisce about the Fiery Foods Show and get some insight into his flavorful and spicy creations. Bird Blood was on tap, as we got to try it out and uncover all of the thanksgiving goodies we wanted to try it on. Missing Turk, Hot Sauce Guide and Slug sit down with David from HAB Sauce. HSG and Slug get to know where David comes from and how HAB Sauce came to be. They discuss art, music, and sauce and how they’re intertwined. David explains his process and how he comes up with new sauce. Enamored with David’s labels, HSG asks him to discuss his artistic and eye popping labels for his sauce. The guys discuss Only Fans, Tinder, and boobs on labels. As we close out Season 1 of Talking Heat, we sit  down with Paul from Big Reds Hot Sauce. Our conversation runs the gamut,  taking about how Paul got started, the evolution of Big Reds, what the  Flavor Tour is, and how he ended up releasing 10 sauces for his 10 year  anniversary. We try some delicious hot sauce and Slug is still a little  bitter Big Reds knocked out Secret Aardvark in the 2021 Hot Sauce March  Tournament. Big Reds did come back big and win it all in 2022. We talk  about the future of Big Reds and how Paul would love to sponsor the  Arizona Cardinals. We might even kick start a campaign to get a Kyler  Murray his own flavor of Big Reds. We get to learn a lot about Scott, from growing up being an  adventurous eater, to being a project manager (of plants, people, and  tech) and having carpool finger puppet adventures. Scott shares the  secret Microsoft project he worked on and the interest it gathered. We  learn how a $60 brisket might be a tipping point towards starting your  own hot sauce company, and the grind of markets, festivals, and street  fairs, as you start a business. We get an in-depth look at the artwork  behind Lucky Dog and get an insight to how the 10th Anniversary sauce  was made. Fat Guy Certified and Hot Sauce Guide just dropped episode 8 of Season 1 of Talking Heat. This episode we get to know Bernie and John and uncover how Left Lane Pepper Company was born. We talk about how one transitions to operating a hot sauce company while managing their day job, and all of the planning that goes into jump starting a new business. We discuss marketing and branding (Hot Sauce Guide’s favorite) and how the car theme encompasses every element of the company. Turk interrupts the episode once bagels are discussed to get on his soapbox. We also learn about Turk’s newest hobby since he moved to the PNW. In episode 7 of Talking Heat, Hot Sauce Guide and  Fat Guy Certified sit down with Ashley from The Hot Sauce Realm. Taking a  break from talking with hot sauce producers, we get to chat with  someone that sells and reviews hot sauce. We unpack why Colorado has so  many great small batch hot sauce companies. Hot Sauce Guide (a Buckeyes  fan) throws a fit when he is reminded Ashley is from Ann Arbor and a  blue blooded University of Michigan fan. The tables are turned as the  guest starts asking the hosts questions, and we learn who among us has  been fined by the FCC.
