  • Ned Staebler: The Amazing Way He Showed Up for Detroit
    Oct 20 2026

At 10 years old, Ned told himself he would go learn about the world and come back to work on his community. He kept that promise. Ned talks about growing up on Detroit's northwest side, the "two years" in business that turned into ten in Chicago and London, and how a grad school email led him into economic development.

He also shares how TechTown raised and gave out $1.2 million to about 7,000 small businesses in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park in the first weeks of the pandemic, why he believes Michigan needs to stop chasing jobs that aren't coming back, and his honest advice for young leaders: "I am wrong every day, and that makes me a better leader."
