  • Take Your Power Back: Becoming Your Own Advocate for Health & Well-Being
    Oct 11 2026

What happens when you stop assuming someone else—or some system—is going to take care of you and start becoming an active participant in your own well-being?

In this episode of Star Women Rising, Melinda shares her deeply personal journey of learning to advocate for herself physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Her curiosity about holistic health began years ago, influenced by a mother who was exploring chiropractic care and other approaches long before they became mainstream. Over the years, Melinda experimented with different ways of caring for herself, from nutrition and fasting to functional medicine, while learning one important lesson: what works for you at one stage of life may not be what you need forever. Pasted text

She also reflects on frightening health experiences within her family, her own struggles after COVID, and the moments that strengthened her belief that we have to ask questions, research our options, listen to our bodies, and participate in our own care. Melinda is clear that this isn't about rejecting conventional medicine—or offering medical advice—but about refusing to hand over all responsibility for your well-being. Pasted text Pasted text

The conversation ultimately goes far beyond health.

What happens when you apply that same self-trust to your food, your relationships, your spiritual life, your environment—and the systems you've always assumed would take care of you?

Melinda explores why self-empowerment can require letting go of old identities, possessions, relationships, and beliefs, and why the collapse of familiar systems doesn't necessarily have to be viewed through fear. Sometimes it creates the space to ask a more powerful question:

    Is there another way?

This episode is an invitation to get curious, listen inward, do your own research, ask better questions, and become an active participant in your own life.

This episode shares Melinda's personal experiences and perspectives and is not medical advice. Seek appropriate professional medical care for your individual health needs.

  • Setting Boundaries Doesn’t Make You Mean: Stop Shrinking to Keep the Peace
    Oct 4 2026

Setting Boundaries Doesn’t Make You Mean: Stop Shrinking to Keep the Peace

What happens when you finally set a boundary—and the people around you don’t like it?

In this episode of Star Women Rising, Melinda gets real about something she’s been learning firsthand: setting boundaries is only the beginning. The real work comes when those boundaries are tested.

From unexpected visitors and unwanted “help” to guilt, deflective apologies, and the pressure to keep everyone comfortable, Melinda explores the subtle ways people cross our boundaries—and the ways we sometimes allow it because we don’t want to appear rude, cold, selfish, or mean.

She also turns the conversation inward. Healthy boundaries aren’t only about protecting our own space; they require us to respect the physical, emotional, and even spiritual spaces of others. For Melinda, that lesson began years ago with an elder who taught her about respect, sacred space, and one principle she hasn't forgotten: never sacrifice your own well-being for someone else.

In this episode, Melinda explores boundary breaches, guilt and people-pleasing, trusting what your body and energy are telling you, honoring other people's boundaries, and why silence can sometimes be a boundary of its own.

If you’ve spent years making yourself smaller so other people don’t feel uncomfortable, this episode is an invitation to stop.

Establish the boundary. Protect the boundary. And remember: being sovereign over your own life does not make you mean.

Star Women Rising — where cosmic roots meet earthly power.

  • Choosing Yourself Without Guilt: Breaking Old Patterns and Taking Your Power Back
    Sep 27 2026

Choosing Yourself Without Guilt: Breaking Old Patterns and Taking Your Power Back

What happens when you stop being the person everyone expects you to be?

When you stop rescuing. Stop overextending. Stop keeping the peace at your own expense. Stop making yourself smaller so everyone around you can stay comfortable.

In this deeply personal episode of Star Women Rising, Melinda explores what it means to choose yourself without guilt, break old emotional patterns, and step into the person you're becoming—even when the people around you don't understand it.

For years, Melinda played familiar roles: rescuer, peacekeeper, absorber of other people's emotions, and the person willing to sacrifice herself to make sure everyone else was okay. Eventually, that version of herself became unsustainable.

Looking back, Melinda describes it almost as a death: the old version of herself had to die for a healthier one to emerge.

That transformation was recently tested when someone confronted her with a powerful emotional warning: someday, on her deathbed, she might regret what had happened to their relationship.

But instead of falling back into guilt, explaining herself, fixing the situation, or becoming the person she used to be, Melinda realized something:

She would regret abandoning herself far more.

She won't regret choosing herself. She won't regret choosing healing. And she won't regret refusing to live an inauthentic life simply to keep other people comfortable.

    In this episode, Melinda explores:

    • How to choose yourself without feeling guilty
    • Recognizing emotional manipulation in relationships
    • Breaking cycles of people-pleasing and overgiving
    • Why healing can change your relationships
    • Letting go of the need to keep everyone happy
    • How old patterns return to test new boundaries
    • Why personal growth can sometimes feel lonely
    • Learning to observe your thoughts instead of automatically reacting to them
    • Finding closure without confrontation
    • Releasing the roles and identities that no longer belong to you
    • Taking responsibility for your own healing and growth

Melinda also explores the uncomfortable space between identities—the place where the person you used to be is gone, but the person you're becoming is still emerging. Like a caterpillar dissolving inside the chrysalis, transformation can feel less like becoming "better" and more like being completely restructured.

    Growth isn't always peaceful.

Sometimes it means disappointing people who benefited from the old version of you. Sometimes it means refusing to repeat a pattern you've participated in your entire life. And sometimes closure doesn't come from one final conversation—it comes from deciding that you're done participating in what no longer serves you.

You don't have to spend your life governed by guilt, old roles, other people's expectations, or fear of what you might someday regret.

Choosing yourself isn't something you have to apologize for.

  • Take Your Power Back: Why Self-Reliance Matters More Than Ever
    Sep 20 2026

Take Your Power Back: Why Self-Reliance Matters More Than Ever

How much of your power have you unknowingly handed over to someone—or something—outside of yourself?

In this episode of Star Women Rising, Melinda explores self-reliance, personal responsibility, intuition, and what it means to take your power back in a world that can feel increasingly unpredictable.

We often think of giving our power away in relationships—overgiving, rescuing, people-pleasing, or allowing someone else to determine our worth. But there’s another, quieter way it happens: we begin believing that someone else is responsible for taking care of us.

A system. An institution. A job. A government. A family member. An expert. A person we assume will always be there to rescue us.

Melinda reflects on her own decision years ago to listen to the voice telling her that something needed to change. She left a career before traditional retirement age, moved her family halfway across the country, and began building a life with greater self-sufficiency—even when other people thought the choices didn't make sense.

Today, she sees those decisions differently. They weren't about fear or preparing for some catastrophic event. They were about creating options, trusting herself, and becoming less dependent on things she couldn't control.

And self-reliance doesn't have to mean moving to the country, living off-grid, or becoming a hardcore prepper.

    It can start incredibly small.

Grow something. Learn a skill. Preserve some food. Pay attention to what's happening around you. Question the assumption that someone else will always solve the problem. Listen when your intuition tells you something needs to change. Take responsibility for the parts of your life you actually can control.

    In this episode, Melinda explores:

    • How we unknowingly give our power away
    • Why self-reliance can create confidence instead of fear
    • The danger of constantly waiting for someone else to fix things
    • Learning to trust your intuition when others don't understand your choices
    • Why taking responsibility for yourself can be deeply empowering
    • Small ways to become more self-sufficient
    • How rescuing others can become another form of unhealthy dependence
    • Staying aware of what's happening without living in fear
    • Why your inner voice may be telling you it's time to make a change

One of Melinda's most powerful moments came from something incredibly ordinary: sitting down to a breakfast made with food her own family had produced. She cried—not because it was elaborate, but because it represented something much bigger:

We can take care of ourselves.

    This isn't about fear.

It's about remembering that your safety, well-being, choices, and future don't have to be completely outsourced to the world around you.

Stand in your power. Trust yourself. Learn what you can. Start where you are. And take back responsibility for the life you're building.

  • When Your Old Life No Longer Fits: Understanding the Sacred Pause.
    Sep 13 2026

Have you ever reached a point where the things you once loved no longer interest you, the people and routines that once defined your life begin falling away, and you’re left wondering, “What is happening to me?”

In this episode of Star Women Rising, Melinda explores what she calls the sacred pause—that strange, uncomfortable space between who you were and who you are becoming.

For Melinda, it looked like losing interest in things that once mattered, relationships shifting, struggling to find motivation, questioning her own mental and spiritual well-being, and feeling as though life had simply stopped moving. Looking back, she began to recognize the experience through another familiar spiritual concept: the Dark Night of the Soul.

But what feels like nothingness may actually be transformation.

Melinda shares how seemingly small acts—burning old candles, clearing a closet, dismantling meaningful spaces, releasing possessions, and letting go of hobbies that had served their purpose—became signs that something inside her was finally beginning to move again. The old version of herself wasn't being destroyed; it was being stripped away to make room for something new.

    In this episode, Melinda explores:

    • What the Dark Night of the Soul can actually feel like
    • Why spiritual awakening doesn't always feel enlightening
    • The meaning of the sacred pause
    • Why you may suddenly lose interest in your old life
    • How self-reflection helps reveal patterns that are ready to change
    • Why letting go physically can mirror an internal transformation
    • The uncomfortable space between your old identity and your next chapter
    • Why your external life may take time to catch up with your internal growth

Perhaps one of the hardest parts of transformation is reaching the other side and realizing you still don't know what's next. Melinda describes that exact in-between place: internally, something has shifted, but externally, the new life hasn't quite arrived yet.

And maybe you're not supposed to know yet.

Sometimes the sacred pause isn't asking you to figure out your next move.

It's asking you to make space for whatever comes next.

  • Why Grandmotherhood Feels So Different From Motherhood
    Sep 6 2026

The Grandmother Effect: Why Grandmothers Hold a Special Place in Our Lives

There’s something about becoming a grandmother that’s difficult to explain until it happens. The responsibility of motherhood shifts into something different—more presence, more perspective, more patience, and maybe even a little more mischief.

In this special episode of Star Women Rising, Melinda is joined by Jennifer for a heartfelt conversation about grandmotherhood, generational wisdom, and the extraordinary relationship between grandmothers and grandchildren. With Melinda nine years into the journey and Jennifer experiencing her first year as a grandmother, they explore why this stage of a woman’s life can feel so profoundly different from motherhood.

Jennifer shares the lasting influence of her own grandmother—a fast-driving, fiercely independent, mischievous woman who became one of the most important people in her life—and how that relationship now shapes the grandmother she hopes to be. Melinda reflects on her powerful connection with her grandchildren and the unexpected gift of seeing pieces of her own children appear again in a new generation.

Together, they talk about something mothers often don't have enough of: time to simply be present.

Motherhood can be filled with schedules, responsibility, worry, and trying to get everything right. Grandmotherhood offers another perspective. You've already learned how quickly childhood passes, so this time you know to stop, listen to the stories, have the dance party, stay up too late, eat the ice cream—and recognize the ordinary moments that may someday become someone's most treasured memories.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Why grandmotherhood can feel so different from motherhood
    • The unique bond between grandmothers and grandchildren
    • How wisdom changes the way we nurture the next generation
    • The influence our own grandmothers continue to have on us
    • Why grandparents can become a child's "soft landing place"
    • How grandchildren can give us another chance to appreciate moments we rushed through as parents
    • The importance of presence, play, storytelling, and a little harmless mischief
    • How wisdom and love are carried from one generation to the next

This episode is a celebration of the women who came before us, the children who came through us, and the grandchildren who somehow allow us to experience it all again—with different eyes.

Because maybe grandmotherhood isn't simply another chapter of motherhood.

Maybe it's where experience finally meets presence—and we realize just how sacred the little moments always were.

  • The Eye of the Storm: Why Your Biggest Spiritual Growth Looks Like Chaos
    Aug 30 2026

The Eye of the Storm: Why Your Biggest Spiritual Growth Looks Like Chaos

Have you ever felt like the more you heal, the more chaotic your life becomes?

The relationships shift. People disappear. Boundaries upset others. Old patterns return one last time, almost as if life is asking, "Are you really done with this?"

In this deeply personal episode of Star Women Rising, Melinda reflects on what it feels like to live in the eye of the storm—that quiet center where profound inner transformation is happening while the world around you seems to grow louder and more turbulent. As she shares stories of relationships changing, synchronicities, unexpected challenges, and the tests that seem to arrive just when you think you've found your footing, she explores why spiritual growth isn't always peaceful—it often asks us to stay centered while everything around us changes.

Rather than reacting from old survival patterns, Melinda reveals how learning not to engage, not to explain, and not to rescue others became one of the greatest milestones on her journey inward.

✨ In this episode, you'll discover:

    • Why healing can temporarily create chaos in your relationships
    • How life seems to "test" the lessons you've been learning
    • The difference between reacting and responding from your center
    • Why boundaries often trigger resistance in others
    • How synchronicities and dreams can signal inner transformation
    • Why losing interest in your old life may be a sign of growth
    • How to remain grounded while everything around you is changing

If you've been feeling like your life is unraveling, your relationships are shifting, or you're questioning why healing feels so difficult, this episode is a reminder that transformation isn't about controlling the storm.

It's about becoming so grounded that you can remain peaceful in the middle of it.

Sometimes your greatest breakthrough doesn't happen when the storm ends.

It happens when you realize you've become the calm at its center.

  • Is Your Nervous System Stuck in Survival Mode? How I Finally Found Peace
    Aug 23 2026

Is Your Nervous System Stuck in Survival Mode? How I Finally Found Peace

Do you ever feel like you're constantly waiting for the next crisis?

Like your body never truly relaxes—even when the danger has passed?

In this deeply personal episode of Star Women Rising, Melinda shares her journey of living in survival mode for decades and the unexpected path that helped her begin healing her nervous system. From childhood patterns and the demands of law enforcement to motherhood, chronic stress, and burnout, she reflects on how years of hypervigilance quietly rewired her body and left her emotionally and physically exhausted.

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, Melinda shares the unconventional practices that brought her relief—from acupressure and meditation to sleeping in a hammock, finding restorative rest, and learning that healing sometimes means giving yourself permission to do what others don't understand.

✨ In this episode, you'll discover:

    • How chronic stress quietly rewires your nervous system
    • Why hypervigilance can become your default way of living
    • The surprising connection between trauma, burnout, and exhaustion
    • Why true healing often looks unconventional
    • The importance of creating a space where your body finally feels safe
    • How listening to your intuition can lead you toward healing
    • Why restoring your nervous system is an act of self-love—not selfishness

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, constantly on edge, or like your body simply won't let you rest, this conversation is a gentle reminder that healing doesn't always happen the way we expect.

Sometimes the most powerful medicine isn't found in doing more.

Sometimes it's found in finally allowing yourself to feel safe enough to simply rest.

Your nervous system has been protecting you for years.

Maybe now it's time to help it remember what peace feels like.
