1. How do we receive it? Through faith in Christ (v22-23)

2. How is it possible? Through the death of Christ (v24-25s)

3. Is it just? Yes, it shows God is just and the one who justifies (v25b-26)

-> Trust in his righteousness

Two dangers for the devout person:

1. You boast in the law, but dishonour God (2:17-24)
2. You have the outward sign, but not the inward change (2:25-29)

Is there any advantage?

• It is better to know God’s word (3:1-2)
• but it’s not a guarantee of faithfulness (3:3-8)
