      When you think of “possession,” how do you feel? Does it call to mind flashbacks of The Exorcist? Do you get a chill down your spine? Are you turning to look over your shoulder as if you can catch a glimpse of the devil, lurking in the shadows and waiting to ooze its way into your skin?

      Maybe not. If you’re part of one of the many traditions that sees spirit possession as nothing new, nothing terrifying, not something you “believe in” or “disbelieve,” this event could be… normal.

      If you’re familiar with the Oracle of Delphi, the Pythia, the idea of trance possession may even come with a sense of awe or reverence.

      But for most of us in the western world, this simply isn’t the case. We fear possession, we see no merit in it, and if it happens to us or someone we love, we need an exorcist, stat.

      Along these lines… what do you think of hearing voices? Speaking to the unseen? Dialoging with entities who “aren’t there?” For many of us, this brings with it fear of psychosis or anxiety over possible schizophrenia, borderline, or bipolar.

      And yet…

      What if these “symptoms” were… spiritual gifts?

      In this episode, we muse it over together. The rise of possession, the possibility it isn’t always negative, and what type of person may be more likely to be possessed and why.
