Shadows: Where God Forms What Will Flow

What's up, y'all? Welcome back to the Speak Honey Podcast—or welcome if this is your first time. I'm Courtney Delks, and this episode is a special one.

Today we're talking about shadows—not as something to escape, but as something God uses.

Groundhog Day is built around a shadow… but long before it was quirky and commercial, it marked a sacred midpoint between winter and spring—when something is happening beneath the surface even if you can't see it yet. And here's the truth that stopped me in my tracks:

A shadow only exists where light is present.

So if you're noticing shadows in your life right now, it doesn't mean God has left. It may mean He's near—and He's forming something in you before it ever flows through you.

In this episode, I tie shadows to the message of my upcoming book Speak Honey—because Speak Honey isn't about arriving… it's about becoming. And becoming almost always begins in the shadow: before clarity, before confidence, before sweetness.

      We'll talk through:

      • Why shadow seasons can feel like failure… but Scripture calls them formation

      • Where God speaks about shadows with tenderness (Psalm 91, Isaiah 49, Psalm 23)

      • How Jesus moves in dark seasons through the language of light vs. darkness

      • How shadows can be unexamined thoughts—and how renewing your mind changes what you speak

      • Why honey forms in the comb before it ever flows—and what that means for your life right now

If you're in a valley season, this one is for you.

You're not failing. You're not stuck. You're not late. You're becoming.

      Scripture woven through this episode:
      Psalm 91:1 • Isaiah 49:2 • Psalm 23:4 • Romans 8 • Romans 12:2 • John 1:5 • Proverbs 16:24

Let's Go! Let's sit in the Light. 🍯

      Jan 20 2026

You are always in agreement with something.

In Episode 4 of Speak Honey, Courtney dives into the power of agreement—how words create alignment, why fear gains authority through repetition, and how to break contracts that were never meant to be signed.

If you've ever believed truth but still felt stuck, this episode will show you why—and how to realign your words with heaven.

    • What You Call Yourself Matters: Identity, Naming, and Becoming
      Jan 13 2026

Who named you—and who are you agreeing with?

In Episode 3 of Speak Honey, Courtney explores the power of identity through Scripture and the story of David. Long before David ever faced Goliath, he was named, anointed, and shaped in private. His confidence didn't come from size, strength, or approval—it came from knowing who God said he was.

This episode invites you to examine the names you've been living under, the words you speak in private, and how identity always precedes assignment.

      You'll learn:

      • Why naming matters spiritually and practically

      • How private identity shapes public courage

      • The danger of living under labels God never gave you

      • How to release false names and receive truth

This is an episode about returning—not becoming—
returning to who you were always meant to be.
